The pool area and court yard are very nice, especially if you have a larger group of people. Just make sure you never book a room on a weekend when they have hockey tournament groups booked. Yes, it makes sense that a large group will take priority over individuals who are staying in the hotel, however it is absolutely pathetic that a large group would be permitted to party till 2am, totally out of control, in the breakfast area of the hotel. The front desk staff received numerous complaints from other guests about the noise, but staff
did not care, and could not guarantee there wouldn't be a repeat on the second night of our stay.
I felt sorry for the young lady working in the morning at the front desk, she fielded a lot of complaints and did a lot of apologizing for the night shift staff.
The hotel location is great, pool area is nice, rooms are adequate, however I've received way better service at a number of hotels nearby. I definitely won't stay at the Road King again.

I was in Grand Forks for a weekend basketball tournament. Stayed at the Road King Inn. I will never be back. The entire hotel is out dated. Rooms are small and dirty the fridge didn't work, towels were so thin. We had no hot water in the morning to shower with. We were told it was due to " the boys hockey team".... Only 3 of the 4 hot tubs were in working order. The game room is a joke 3 of the 4 old game machines were working. The security door is still taped so anyone could gain access. The parking lot is covered in snow and ice, my mother slipped while getting out of her vehicle. The only thing I can saw positive about this stay is that the front desk clerks are very friendly! Very disappointed in this hotel....

We booked our stay at the Roadking almost one year before our intended stay. We used the online service to book the rooms. We were quoted a price and had a print out to verify. When we arrived at the Roadking, we were told there was an error in the booking price. The desk staff told us that the error had been fixed the week before we arrived, admitting that even though they knew, the error was left on the internet for almost an entire year. They told us no one had time to fix it! I am curious as to why we were not told of the error when we called the week prior to confirm our rooms as they clearly had no intention of honoring the price quoted. I emailed the manager to express my concern however he did not respond or even acknowledge my email. It certainly appears that the Roadking will advertize lower rates that they have no intention of honoring, so buyer beware!!!

Let me start out by apologizing for the rate mix up with your online reservation. The rate at which you booked at was a glitch in our system and as soon as we had become aware of it the rate mix up it was indeed fixed in our system. When you called, our staff did confirm that the rate at which you booked online was incorrect and that we could not honor that rate at the time of check in, this was a mistake and never meant to be used bait and switch tactic towards our guests. We do understand that it was a big inconvenience for you and the other hand full of guests that did indeed book at that low rate. However, the staff at Road King did give additional discounts from the correct rates to the guests that were affected by the price glitch. We hope that you will reconsider our hotel for further stays for you and your family in the future.

We just came back from Grand Forks. Our stay at the Road King Inn was ok. The rooms were old but clean. They need to be updated. The hot tubs were all working and the pool was always busy. Spending New Years Eve there, it would of been nice if the ice maker on the 2nd floor worked. The breakfast area was clean but not much of a selection of food.
For what we paid for, ($65) you get what you pay for. We will stay there again.

Room Tip: Stay on the main floor by the pool/courtroom

I have stayed here many times with my husband, or my sister, or my girlfriends and the hotel has been okay. Nothing special, but handy to shopping. The last time my girlfriends and I stayed, we had something stolen from our room. When the housekeeping staff was confronted, they denied it. The conversation about the stolen product was discussed at the front desk in the lobby with other guests present which made it very uncomfortable. A refund of $10 per night was given but that did not cover the cost of the missing item. We discovered it missing on a Saturday and were told we had to wait until Sunday for management. Manager still wasn't there on Sunday. In addition to this, the hotel has 4 hot tubs of which only 1 was working and taken over by guests in a poolside room. They weren't even using it, just sitting around it and others were dangling their feet in it. Not a great time at all.

My husband and I stayed at this motel for 5 nights recently. We found the staff to be very accommodating and pleasant. The room was very clean...a little outdated but very comfortable. We also travel with our dog and it is not always easy to find a nice place to stay in Grand Forks when you have a pet. This motel exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend it if you are looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay. We will always stay here when we are in Grand Forks.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a recliner.
