Hotel building and decor itself is ok other then the annoying card swipe in the elevator.
You have to swipe it so slowly and look for this tiny little blinking green light before you can punch your floor, If you miss it you are going for a ride to the penthouse. This happened to me like 3 times in one night. I have stayed in many Canad inns here in Canada and they do a fairly good job on presentation for the Amenities and rooms. Rooms were decorated tastefully, beds and pillows were great. Grand Forks is a step up and is great for families with respect to the watepark. I am a business owner and do realize it costs a lot of money to maintain these sort of things. I did not have an issue with paying for the admission to the park. The breakfast or food was pathetic as usual. My wife and kids opted to have the buffet. Half the time the food trays were empty. The food was bland and cold. I had steak and eggs and it was crap! Nobody was driving the bus with a manager atitude..on a long weekend yet?!? just a bunch of kids who don't have a clue how to run business or likely really care. . The restaurant does not at all match the hotel. Come on Leo, you can do better than that. I would stay again for the room and the waterpark but would have to leave to get a decent meal. You would be more satisfied with a continental breakfast.
Hire a 5 star Chef or get David Adjey to come in consult, clean house
I don't think Leo L really cares about his lousy food as it is all the same pretty much. Yet they still charge enough for it. I am tired of it!

The kids suites are on the second floor, and while the layout of the rooms is great, the ventilation is poor. The rooms face either a lobby area or the poor, and do not have access to direct outdoor fresh air. The waterpark is great for kids, however the service at the Garbonzos Pizza was poor.

I stayed at the Canad Inns Destination Center from October 30 to November 1, 2010. I went with my wife and three small children(4,5,7). We stayed here primarily for the water park. The water park is great especially for young children. My kids had a blast and since the water park is attached to the hotel it is very convenient. We rented a kids theme room. This is where I would make some changes. Although my kids seemed to enjoy it my wife and I found it very claustrophobic. There was no where to eat in our room so we ate mostly on our bed which wasn't the greatest. My advise is to get a two bedroom suite if you can afford a little extra money. Also, if your staying there over the weekend there is a good chance that there is a hockey game going on and the bar in the hotel was very loud and not only woke me up but kept me up for a couple of hours. All the kids theme room are on the second floor which is close the bar and in some cases right beside the main hallway. I will return with my family next year I will just change my room category and that should take care of the couple of problem that we had.

housekeeping did not show up to clean until after 4 pm and had to be asked. they did a very quick and poor job. left dirty pillow cases, garbage and their cleaning solution in the room - but they did not leave toilet paper. I expect more for $150+/night

pricey without even free coffee. have stayed in smaller towns and been treated better. they had a coffe pot in the room but the bottled water next to it was $4.50 each. had breakfast there and at a small cafe in town and by far the small cafe was much much better and at a better price. would not stay there again!! the view was a roof top
