After travelling through the bedlam that is Colombo, we arrived at the gates of Ging Oya Lodge as soon as we passed through a sense of peace and tranquillity passed over us and it did'nt stop for a week. The lodge is small and enchanting set in a Mangrove forest next to a river. The bungalows are well equiped, clean, and quiet. The large pool was deserted and comfortable. The whole place exceeded our expectations due to our hosts Leo and Myrjam. They take great pride in what they do in a relaxed manner, nothing is too much trouble. The great breakfasts set you up for the day while Leo varies the dinner menu but always to a high standard (the best curry and rice in Sri Lanka and we have had a few). The dogs are friendly and good fun as is Elodie the cow. All in all the whole experience will leave you a different person, don't just stay at the start or finish of your holiday, stay a few days and embrace the whole location, it will surprise you.
