We had a room with a great view of the pool and the beach. it was really nice experience . Food is at reasonable price, but it tastes nice and fresh. When we had the dinner there was a guy playing the flute perfect combination for the night. Made me feel relaxing . Friendly staff. Love the hotel ambience.

My wife and I stayed at The Blue Water in August of 2013 and found it to be a wonderful experience. The staff were attentive and pleasant: we were never in want for anything. The hotel itself is masterpiece of modern tropical design with beautifully long vistas and seamless interior-exterior spaces create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. We found ourselves indulging in the building as much as the beach and pool! The room was comfortable and clean with all the amenities you would expect. Eating from the Sri Lankan menu rather than the buffet, we were rewarded with incredible and delightful food! Do yourself a favour and give it a try. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to Sri Lanka!

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the palm trees near the pool because hundreds of parrots flock to them at sunse...

Visited in early June.
The design of the hotel allows open views of the pool beach and gardens, with the sea breeze flowing through ground floor bars and lobby area. The staff are excellent and the food is very good indeed, set meals and excellent buffet choice, although the starter and dessert selection was not as consistently good as the mains. The hotel was quiet at the time of our visit with lots of weddings, a few conferences and some tourists, there didn't seem to be a huge reduction in staff levels, so the service was very attentive. The room was comfortable, not large, but good enough, with a decent balcony and wonderful views of the ,rather rough, Indian Ocean.
People mention the Crows, we did not find them a nuisance. The spectacle of their insect feeding at dusk is one of natures better free shows.
Would recommend taking breakfast and dinner as part of a deal. The drink is pretty reasonably priced, please note that no alcohol is permitted in public places on full moon days each month.
Would also recommend that you cross the railway tracks and talk to Rushi who will give you a good deal and a very accommodating trip to various sites around he island.
Enjoy your stay!

Room Tip: There are a few room without a sea view, make sure your room faces the sea.

our family stayed at blue water hotel wadduwa during the last weekend . Whole stay was a very pleasant experience .Late Geffory Bawa has incorporated his trade mark features when designing this hotel which has made this hotel a very relaxing place. But the design alone will not make a hotel a great place if the staff is not good. I think Blue waters has become a great hotel because of its its friendly staff . Rooms were good and the house keeping dept was very quick to fulfill our requests , There were plenty of dishes at the buffet and the food was tasty . The only area which I think can be improved is the pastry section. I didn't much enjoy bread rolls and the Danish pastries which I love to eat . Gymnasium was good and me and my daughter enjoyed the hotels squash courts very much .I would visit this hotel again in the future

We had a workshop here for 3 days this week, and it was great to be in a quiet, relaxing resort for our large 100-ish person event. Checkin and out was good, although at checkout in the morning, with so many people behind the desk, only 1 person was actually checking people out. The view from most rooms is gorgeous and right onto the beach with palm and coconut trees all over. The grounds are lovely-- green everywhere, fountains, ponds, pool, etc. The room was comfortable--- good bed, clean/modern bathroom, lots of towels, nice balcony with table/chairs, desk, well appointed other furnishings. Bfast was included in the room package, and it was a nice buffet--- lots of choice. Also had dinner at the coffee shop area--- great food and choice. Room service was also ok--- not so much choice, though.

Two complaints: the fuse blew 2x when i put the key in the slot to turn on electricity in the room, and i had call, sit in the dark, and wait 10-ish min for someone to come flip the fuse nearby in the breaker box. Also, the wifi is really erratic---had to log on frequently and also lost some of my work when the internet crashed.

It took 2 hours from Colombo driving on a Monday late afternoon...and also two hours to get to the airport on Friday morning at 9h15. LOTS of traffic.....

Room Tip: try to get room with balcony and facing the beach--- really gorgeous.
