After these climatic and hydric extreme phenomena of June 2014, that affected Albena and other regions of Bulgaria, finally the sun rises again. Laguna Mare Hotel and its staff cannot be accused for the results of those floods. Normally, the main priority had the social and health institutions of the most affected areas and finally the tourists. The staff made all possible to assure quickly the electric power and the warm water in the hotel. Probably, a supplementary measure with an electric (autonomous) generator and an emergency pump for the water from the basement would be better, when the electric service is down. More guilt have the city authorities who have not properly sized the pluvial drainage system of the resort. On the other side, the personal of the hotel was kind and watchful with the clients. The beach was excellent and also the sunbeds and umbrellas offered. We're waiting for more sun. We wish a good season for our owners!

Room Tip: Chose a room to a superior floor.

I staid in Laguna Mare one week, at the beginning of August 2013. The hotel, although rated 4-star, is nonetheless a 3-star judging by the quality of amenities and refurbishments. The room (we staid in a double room) was quite large, with a wide terrace. Furniture, bathroom amenities were all quite out-of-date and some upgrading was badly needed. The towels were changed every day, the stock of toiletries was replenished every time when needed. What displeased me and puzzled me at the same time was that all through our stay there the floor (covered with tiles) was not cleaned. If you walked around barefoot, you could feel the dust, sand and what-not.

The hotel is well located, in the middle of Albena, close to the beach and the sea, close to a park (Lunapark) and to an area with a fairly large number of restaurants, gift shops. The hotel doesn't have its own pool and restaurant, guests are assigned upon check in to the facilities of the other two sister-hotels Laguna Garden and Laguna Beach.

The pools are quite large, clean, endowed with space for kids, showers, toilets, sunbeds and parasols. The beach is also reserved for the hotels' guests, sunbeds and parasols being free-of-charge. The beach was clean but the water was full of sea weeds.

We had a package that included only breakfast. The breakfast was plentiful and diverse, with lots of courses to choose from. In fact I found that they served a kind of brunch instead of breakfast.

We didn't have much contact with the staff, but whenever it happened they were helpful and it seems, the only ones in Albena that spoke fairly good English.

All-in-all we had a pleasant stay, the hotel (just like the entire Albena resort) is designed for family people, people with kids, so it was quite a place for relaxation and not much noise. However, in the future I would choose one of the more modern hotels of the resort (I could spot some three such hotels that were built in the modern, post-communist era and looked quite well from the outside).

Room Tip: Avoid rooms located on the ground floor (1st floor by their numbering). Being close to the ground yo...

We have family in BG and decided to relax for 5 days in Albena, we have been there before but at Dobrudja hotel.
I was dissapointed in this hotel since it's getting very tired and from the 3 hotels conncected the least upscale if you can call it that. The room had a nice view, good working A/C but thats about it. Furniture is old and worn, a tv from 1910 and it was only cleaned welll after a well paid bribe to the cleaning lady with some well choosen words in Bulgarian. However, i must say that the buffet was not bad at all, food was fresh and plenty if you can stand the Neanderthal attitude of the Romanians and Russians who will carry uber full plates to their tables and leaving 3/4 on the table. I compliment the bulgarian workers at the restaurant and front desk that were always nice and hospitable. Silly is only wifi in the lobby not in the rooms. So we had a great time at the Black Sea with excellent food, beautiful scenery and friendly people but we will never stay at this hotel again. It didn't even have the communist charm of Dobrudja :-)

I would really like to share with everybody the bad vacation we had this summer. At first the service in the hotel was terrible, as we didn't get room cleaning for 2 days, when we complained at the reception, they started to find a guilt in us, very strange approach to customers. Some of us got eye's and some ear's infection from the pool, definitely it was not clean enough. And never go to a doctor in Albena, because he damaged the ear channel. At the end we just wanted to ran away home earlier and the hotel didn't want to give us a proof for the days we stayed. Definitely they don't care about their customers and if they don't change it, they will not last for long...

When I read the comments from the others who had been on Hotel Laguna Mare, I got shocked! Really! I was so pleased by everything at the hotel. The pepole who worked in the reception were so kind and smily, and when my family was sick in the middle of the night, they were a very good help. I liked them very much. We also got three great rooms, with a excellent view too he beach. The food was OK, not very good but eateble. My parents liked it very much, soo.. I can agree with the fact that the parking space was too small, but nothing is all perfect. Its a fantastic hotel!

When we arrived we asked the receptionist for a room with a sea-view. She was ironical and offered us a room with a view on the back of the restaurant. We could also see the parking area. The cleaning lady knocked on our door only between 3 and 4 pm, when we were resting or sleeping , and never vacuumed our room in a whole week. In order to get clean towels, we had to tip her ( 4 leva). And this happened only once a week. When we checked out the receptionist spoke to us very unkindly. We paid 820 E for a 7-day holiday and we were not satisfied at all with the service we got at this hotel.

I've been in Albena for an extended weekend in August 2009 with a group of friends. The hotel is fine, rooms are pretty (not very) clean. But it is far from being a four star hotel. I would say at most 3, if not 2+.
We had all inclusive. This means three meals a day, snack and local drinks. Breakfast from 7,30-10, lunch 12-14 and dinner 18-21 in the restaurant from the neighbor hotel (Laguna Beach) and the food was good and diverse. Snacks between 11-17 nearby the pool and includes pizza, french fries, burgers, salad, ice cream and fruits. The local drinks were served between 10 and 23 in the hotel bar.
The hotel doesn't have a private beach and the public one is approximately 100 meters away.
The parking is just too small and always full.
If you don't pay rates as for a four star hotel and you don't expect one, then you will be pleased. If this will be rated as 2 or 3 stars then my rating will be higher.
