We first tried this restaurant just because it was there, and their cook to barbecuing a lamb in front of it, and we were not disappointed. In the past three weeks have eaten there at least 10 times now, which is incredible given the amount of restaurants and, hence, competition in the area. Everything, and I mean everything, on the menu tastes great, the service is excellent, and the portions are huge. Salads are fresh and crispy and our favorite is shopska salad, which is basically tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onions, and mountains of white cheese. One portion is big enough to be shared among two people as an appetizer or a side dish. Sounds very basic but tastes awesome, as veggies are of very high quality. Then I would strongly recommend their bread with garlic and cheese, which is sort of like pizza bianca, and again, it is big enough to be shared. Then order anything else from the menu, and you will not be disappointed. The restaurant is over 20 years old, which says a lot about its quality, given the turnover in this business. The owners are always on premises in the evenings. I really like the staff, as first of all, they are very friendly, and remember my preferences as to wine, water temperature, food choices, and such. They make my family feel very welcomed and, what is very important, I get the feeling that they are truly, genuinely glad to see me, not as a customer walking in, not the person who may tip them, but me as a person. I get a feeling like I am coming home to my family when I am in their restaurant. We have learned everyone on the staff by their name, and as we pass the restaurant on our walks, they waive to us, and so do we. Just last night, when my kid was riding a bike on the road in front of the restaurant, she saw the owner's wife, and went inside just to say hello. My kid is not affectionate towards the strangers, but the owner is a friendly, enthusiastic, and a very positive lady, and she makes a special effort to ensure that guests are well fed and are welcomed. Needless to say, as I come to eat there, I see other customers who come there night after night, over and over again, customers of different ages and nationalities. As I talked to the servers, they were telling me that many customers return year after year to their restaurant, and after enjoying the food and the atmosphere this summer, my family is definitely coming back next summer and bringing our country flags (three countries, actually) to join the collection of other flags hanging from the ceiling of this restaurant. Many thanks to the owners and the staff that we have now have another place to remember fondly in winters and return to in summers.
