Great holiday can't wait to go back, hopefully 2013. Large room, friendly staff, great entertainment @ the corner pub, food brill @ the italian underneath the hotel @ the corner pub.

Room Tip: Our room was at the oposite side to the pool of the hotel, nice and large.

After reading these reviews I was a bit worried about this hotel. I have recently returned after a week away with two friends. When we arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful. We purchased a safety deposit box which was only 35 lev. Our room was cleaned and tidied everyday and supplied with clean towels every day. We were on the top floor so had a great view of sunny beach. The pool side was clean and tidy, however you do have to pay 5 lev per sunbed which can be a bit of a pain but its still cheaper than the beach! This is hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the main strip where the main nightlife is and it's not even a 5 minute walk to the beach. The hotel is joined onto two pubs which are both very cheap and the corner pub does great food! I plan to return to Bulgaria and I would definetly return to this hotel as I could not fault one thing about it.

Arrived at the meridian for 7nights 18th june around 2.30am. Reception desk staff were fine, got shown to our room by georgie who waited for a tip but had no change at time so told him we give it to him the next day was no problem. Room was lovely and big, very clean, lovely balcony with pool + sea view. Used the pool everyday(which u have to pay 5 lev (£2.50) for a bed) but we didnt mind this as one day we paid ,put our towels down and went on a day trip and could come bk knowing we had the bed we wanted. Lovely pool, was cleaned everyday. Man around the pool was nice too and would help out when needed. Restaurant was on the top floor which i liked as you can sit outside with a lovely view. Breakfast was fine, always something there and also a man making pancakes and omlettes which were nice. Dinner was ok, we didnt really go upstairs for dinner much as we wanted to try food out in restaurants, but when we did it was ok. nothing special. All in all i really enjoyed my stay and will 100% be coming bk very soon staying in this hotel!

My wife and I visited the Meridian for the 3rd time 16/7-23/7. Having been there before we knew what to expect before we booked so cannot really complain. The main complaints seem to be about the food and whether to go All Inclusive, Half Board or Bed and Breakfast, and about charging for sunbeds.
I can only say in the hotels defense that they receive very little of the holiday cost and that it works out at about £1pp for your evening meal. Yes at best it can only be described as average but most hotels in Bulgaria are the same. There are plenty of places to eat in Sunny Beach, but eating out 3 times a day can be a bit much.
The rooms are a resonable size and cleaned daily and have good views from most. The lifts at times can be temperamental but you're on holiday.. so what's the hurry? The pool area is very well kept, and £2 a day for a sunbed isn't really a lot considering that every thing else is cheap.
There is a poolside bar which also serves meals. These are cooked by The Corner Pub and are good value and more typically British than most.
The Corner Pub is the main evening entertainment if you dont want to walk into the centre(about 10 mins, but packed with restaurants along the way) and provide a good night including live music from two girls who sing music from 60's to Adele (and desrve a better reception than they get) bingo, open the box and karaoke, as well as outside acts such as magician and hypnotists. James and Darren keep the evening going and the waiting staff keep the drinks flowing (2 for1 all night!!!)
Well worth a visit to is Nessebar which is a World Heritage Sight and a lovely place to go for a day. There are lots of restaurants serving fish caught that day and it is a bit quiter than Sunny Beach.
So in summary Hotel Meridian is a clean, well run hotel with bad food. Sunny beach is spotlessly clean. The Corner Pub is great. The Bulgarian people are not as forceful as the Turkish for getting you into thier places and this can sometimes come across as unfriendly, but when you get to know them they are good people.

Room Tip: Some balconies are bigger but on side of Hotel. Pool view balconies are slightly smaller.

8 of us (2 being children) travelled to the Meridian Hotel for 10 nights on 8th June 2012 and we opted for all inclusive. We arrived at 3am. The man on reception was helpful enough but came across a little abrupt when i asked if we had a cot in the room, we were told we had to wait until next day when it was sorted straight away. First impressions, the hotel was big spacious and absolutely spotless. The room was lovely, we had both sea and pool view. Also big bed, and around the corner was a sort of seperate room with another bed and with what i would call panoramic window view, from floor to ceiling. I was impressed ( so was my 5 year old as that was his room ). Unfortunately none of the rooms have kettles which i really needed for doing the little mans bottles, so we had to buy one out there.

The food wasn't great but it was edible and also not very child friendly. The restaurant was a bit of a free for all i must say, and some of the other guests were quite rude, and didn't know the meaning of the word.... QUE!!! The staff were ok could have been a little friendlier but i didn't have to deal with them much, so didn't really matter. The maids however were lovely, did a great job in the rooms and were always smiling, and they took a real shine to my 1 year old.

As for the all inclusive i really wouldn't recommend it, unfortunately there was no ice creams snacks etc. It was a case of breakfast, lunch and tea at selected times and a bar inside of the pool area was the all inclusive bar no pool side one. The a la carte restaurant had gone this season from what we were told and i'm not sure if the pizza restaurant exsisted either, if it did we didnt find it. There was no entertainment at all, i saw the kids room downstairs but there was never anybody in it and the lights were always off and didn't look like it was used. It was a bit of a pain that the restaurant was on the top floor. After 6pm the all inclusive bar shut down by the pool and you had to go all the way up to the top floor for a drink, this proved to be a bit of a problem with the lifts as you had to wait if it was meal times as they were always full.

There was a swim up pool bar too. which i thought was brilliant, but its not all inclusive, and the other bar round the other side is not all inclusive but you can buy ice creams from there which were cheap enough, but being all inclusive you'd expect to not have to pay.

The resort in all was great, the hotel is in prime position for everything, shops, restaurants, beach, bars all being cheap i thought. Nesse Bar old town was beautiful and a cheap 5 minute bus ride away. The aqua park was brilliant and so easy to book at the excursions centre 2 mins away along with the pirate boat cruise and the sunset yacht trip. The Bulgarian people are really friendly nothing was too much trouble and we didn't get hassled at all. The beach was to die for, white sand and the sea was warm and shallow.

All in all we had fantastic holiday, i would go back and stay at the Meridian hotel but room only and on our own without the kids.

If your planning a holiday to Sunny beach i hope you enjoy it as much as we did!!

Got to the hotel at 2am only one girl on desk that could not speak english so got there in end booking in, But could not get a travel cot for my one year old until the next day. Hotel very clean , cleaners are a gredit to the place allways very happy and good to talk to and make a great job in rooms , making swans ect for the kids from the towels.
Rooms good size, My moan is the staff are not the best at times bar staff where good but hotel reception not great plus there was a bar manager cant mind his name wore glasses, staggered out the lift at main reception one night at 12 at night where just ready to get kids up to bed after a nice walk in sunny beach, He staggers into us drunk holding 2 bottles of wine glary eyed says you cant go in lift its broke but it work perfectly fine when he got out it, he said you go up stairs with kids so he wanted us to climb 3 flights of stairs at 12 at night with 2 kids and one in a buggy , to our luck the security gaurd came over said forget him as he bounced off the walls go in the lift it took us to floor 3 very easily.

For going all inclusive with kids on a few times with family i allways had ice cream for kids during the day and drinks and pool bars etc with snacks this not case for this hotel . there no ice cream for kids drinks to a certain time only. lunch served down stair then dinner upstair which becomes a pain if you got any one old in your party or kids as you cant climb 11 flights of stairs if you at bottom floor .

Food at dinner time was not great it was eadable but certainly not kid friendly.
A few people got food poison when i was there all that it could be traced back to was a fish dish after chatting to a few people .
The chef also uses one big hot plate to cook diffrent meats etc and never seems to be cleaned.

All in all the rooms are good and very clean the staff below par impression mre and other all inclusive people got is we where not giving money so we where not wanted they forget we had paid in advance, we where also not allowed to use bar in resturant and you had to get your dinnner then walk to a diffrent bar at very back of hotel to get a drink.

i would deffo go back to sunny beach but will not visit the meridan again.

Also one last thing if you not all inclusive you have to pay 5 lev a day for a sun lounger at pool and there is no hotel entertaiment or things for kids to do.
