“Way better than expected...would go back!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2011

We had booked and paid in full for this all inclusive hoiday before reading the reviews.
Once Id started reading I had 10weeks of worrying and feeling sick about it until we got there...which there was no need for as it was lovely!
The room was lovely, and clean. Could of done with upgrading the shower, but overall no complaints.
The food wasnt perfect, but its Bulgaria and they eat different stuff to what Im used to, just never realised I was quite so picky...but I found stuff to eat everyday and never went hungry.
There was always clean plates, glasses and cutlery, and as for the 'dirty tablecloths', what do you expect with so many people coming in and out? I did see tablecloths being changed during mealtimes, but they cannot be expected to do it after every single person has used it.
Not sure whether I would go all inclusive again, as we did eat out a few nights, but we made up for it with the amount of juice and eer we drank...but the cost of eating out every night isnt as cheap as expected, it soon adds up, so there are pros and cons of going all incl.
Staff were all lovely, although the reception staff did seem a bit rude at times when they just carried on their conversations with each other etc. even though we were standing waiting to speak to them, but they were friendly.
In fact Im very happy with the friendliness of the staff, and the cleaners were great, even folded my pyjamas up and put them under my pillow for me!!
We didnt pay for a safety box key, but our stuff was fine, even when I hadnt padlocked it into my case.
The only complaint we would really have would be the lift. We were on the 7th floor and the lift would break down daily, more then once.
There was 2 other lifts to use though, but when there was no working lift there is about 18steps between each floor, so not great for people with difficulties, but we didnt find it too bad.
Also with the pool, we never found any sunbeds as people were saving them with their towels the night before, but thats not the hotels fault. We bought a cheap lilo each and just used them as our beds, was fine by us, and plenty other people did the same! The pool was also lovely and always plenty of people in it.
There is also free wifi if you ask reception for password.
I had worried so much about this hotel, was feeling sick with it! But it was all for nothing, your holiday is what you make of it.
If you want to spend your holiday complaining then you will fnd stuff to complain about!
We enjoyed it, and would go back, just maybe not all inclusive but would depend on price difference, we could be persuaded :-)

Group of 10, our friend had stayed before and couldn't fault it so we ignored the bad reviews. Was up all night and Got there 7am waited in a massive que and just wanted to go to bed, got given our key with no directions to the room and its a big place so wandered about for about an hour There cos I wasn't going to pay the bell boy. Our friends got sea view rooms and an apartment in the other building and we were left with a bog standard room that wasn't the best. Still, was only a place to sleep so got on with it. We were blue bands and the food was edible, but after a while you do get sick and want a decent meal but places are cheap enough to eat out. Maid service is really bad in our building where the main reception is. Out of 14 days we got fresh towels twice, and thats cos we complained. I don't mind going a couple of days but when ya put them in the bath expecting them to changed and they just get left soaking wet all day its terrible. Thing is we were putting "make up the room" sign on the door every day and they were ignoring it. I wouldn't of been bothered but With our friends it was a different story. They got towels every day, bed changed and maid even folded their clothes up etc. So they tipped their maids. So you definatley get treated different depending on which building your in. Life guard is awful. Supposedly not meant to reserve but on a night there is always towels left out. And on a morning u get up put ya towel down go for breakfast for 15 min and come back and he's shot ya towel in the pool. Fair enough if he'd moved them to the side but there is no need for that. Plus old men and women go round just taking people's towels off themselves anyway so get ya self a lilo. I'd say go all inclusive for drinks and the bar on the beach. . But def pay the extra for sea view room as you get so much better service. . We went for the nightlife and its dead good, if you come in a bit rowdy you do get looked at but we weren't overly loud where the rooms were just outside The hotel, some people need to lighten up! We are on our holidays! Overall had the best holiday cos there was a group of us but if it was just us as a couple I wouldn't of been happy !

just returned from a 2 week holiday in chaika beach hotel. We went as a group of 7 18 year olds and after reading the reviews we were all dreading it. we got there in the middle of the night but was quickly given our room keys all are rooms where all together. we couldnt fault the hotel the only problems we had was some of the towels the maid gave us were not clean but other than that it was fine. There are 2 restaurants and we were given a blue wrsitband which meant we ate in the main restaurant which we couldnt fault. the hotel is in a fantastic location walking distance to everywhere. obvioulsy the hotel wasnt as great as other all inclusive hotels we have been to but you get what you have paid for!

First ever girls holiday away. We stayed for 14 nights all inclusive. After travelling around the world with our families we are all used to luxury all inclusive holidays and after reading the shocking reviews we went with an open mind waiting to be disappointed...

How shocked we were! Upon arriving on our first night we noticed how clean the hotel was, after reading reviews we decided to carry our own cases to the room to save confrontation with the bell boy! Our rooms were perfect, split around the 8th floor and 2nd floor all with sea views. If you want a nice view make sure you ask your travel agent before hand!

Our rooms were cleaned every day, bedding was always clean. If you want clean towels, make sure you put all of your towels into the bath before the maid cleans your room! The maids were extremely friendly and always happy to help, along with all the other staff apart from one particular female bar maid we nick named Cruella!

Food was good. Nothing amazing but everything was edible. Range of pastas, meats and vegetables every night and a different soup every lunch and tea. Breakfast was also nice. Don't expect a clean table if you go for tea at 9 o clock as they only set them once, but there are plenty of tables to choose from! Cheap enough to eat out even if you don't like the food (avoid the Chinese restaurant near the hotel, service was shocking!)
Local spirits, wine, beer, hot drinks, water and fizzy drinks were always available and staff were never stingy with portions!
Pool area was always clean.
The lift occasionally broke down, but this was due to the majority of the time, the fact that over confident fattys tried to squash in the lift along with their 20kg+ cases, when the maximum amount of people one lift could hold is 8! Climbing the stairs a couple of times didn't bother us as it was a way of burning off all the food we ate!

Sunny Beach is an amazing clubbing resort, being from Liverpool we're used to a good night out! We recommend Bar Fresh (2 cocktails and 2 shots for 10 lev) and the best main club is probably Iceberg (free entry for girls with a free drink before 12). Also advise you to do the PartyCrews Bar Crawl! Great value for money and a great way to meet new people!
Not sure why people on here are complaining about noise early hours of the morning...don't go to a clubbing resort if you want a good nights sleep!

On average we all spent around £300/600 lev each- eating out 3 times, going to the waterpark, 2 trips to Nessebar, watersports and drinking/partying every night!

Recommend you invest in a cheap lilo, we used them as sunbeds by the pool and on the beach to save a lot of money!

+'s of holiday : amazing night life, cheap drinks, hot weather(only saw one day of rain), watersports, aqua park, Nessebar, great location of hotel(right on promenade and 5 minute walk from main strip), partycrews bar crawl, Tattoos party boat

-'s of holiday: ill mannered Europeans, jellyfish and seaweed infested sea

All in all, great value for money! amazing group holiday, would recommend Chaika to young couples also and we would definitely return!

Room Tip: Ask for sea view rooms!

As so many people are putting on here bad reviews I thought Id voice my opinion, First of all it is Bulgaria and you will never get 4* like you do in any EEC country, The hotel was lovely and the sea view room was abs beautiful, spotless clean and maids lovely and friendly as long as you were friendly too.
The bar staff again were more than friendly but again its how you treat them. A lovely little girl called Pataya welcomed us on our arrival to breakfast with a lovely smiling face and good morning.
The meals were basic but thats really to be expected like all inclusives.

The only down side was getting up early for sunbeds which before we left the lifeguard was trying to sort this out and removing towels,
Meals repetative and no potatoes but again spoke to the manager and he was going to look into menus.
Location excellant rite on the beach and in Bulgaria you do pay for your sunbeds on the beach but take a lilo and lie on that which will cost you nothing.
Good place to eat was the Neptune bar we have 4 beautifully cooked steaks and drinks all night for £15 per person, can you get that in Spain.

Fantastic show at Khans tent so def go there.

If you go to Bulgaria keep an open mind and youll have a happy holdiay

been to sunny beach many times and love the area and the bulgarian people. This was the worst hotel we had stayed in. Unfriendly, unclean, uncaring, unhygienic, unsafe. What more can I say without writing an essay. If it was not for the people we knew in the area and those we made friends with our holiday would have been a holiday from hell.
Thankfully the Bulgarians we had made friends with over the years looked out for us.
The management do not respond to guests complaints. The crockery had more chips in it than macdonalds. Lifs always broken. My husband kept getting stuck between floors. Discrimination was evident.Meals dreadful.Snacks repetitive.Irish bar certainly not irish and again uninviting....the list is endless. All I can say is dont do it.think twice and look around as there are some stunning hotels around sunny beach.

i have recently returned from staying 2 weeks in the chaika beach hotel on all inclusive basis with Thomas Cook.
After initially reading the reviews i was nervous to go.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM.
Staff are friendly! maid was fantasic, we even left her a tip! Clean towels and bedding every day we were there! View from the hotel is gorgeous! Location is really central!
Food was ok, what you'd expect from any all inclusive hotel, there are a choice of 6 main courses along with veg, salad, chips, potatoes, and cold pasta's every night. This also changed every night too! Wide range of dessert! Food was not repetative! Lunch time food was great and if you missed the restraunt pizza and snacks were served in the irish bar. It is also really cheap to eat out in bulgaria if you fancy a few nights out of the hotel.
One of the lifts is a bit dodgey, it would take you to floor 8 if you pressed the 6 button. But there were 4 lifts in the block so just dont use the main one!
Staff in the Irish bar were very friendly and always had a smile on their face and were not shy on the amount of vodka they would give you!
The only problem i could find was sunbeds. There are not enough sunbeds for the amount of visitors. By 8am all sunbeds were reserved. Towards the end of our holiday the life guard had started taking all towels off sunbeds before 9am unless you were laid on the bed. This made it a lot fairer. If we couldnt get a sunbed we'd walk to the beach where we could put our lilo's down for free infront of the beach bar which was also available to all inclusive guests
Overall, definately value for money! Lovely hotel! Extremely clean! Would definately return!.
