Victoria Palace Hotel & Spa

Just got back from Bulgaria & stayed in the Victoria Palace. The hotel is supposed to be 5 star....i really don't know how. Its stunning from the outside & beach view was lovely & entrance is very grand apart from that it has nothing going for it. We were bed & breakfast & in a week only went to breakfast twice as it was awful...unless you are Russian or German you might as well be invisible. The staff are rude, abrupt & anything you ask for is a major chore. We were unable to get a drink from the outside bar as we were not all inclusive & could only buy our drinks inside or from the pool bar which is not easy to get to carrying money etc. It was a nightmare to get a sunbed around the pool & i witnessed people putting towels on beds at 5am...sad!! The main strip is fab with some great places to eat like the Hawaii, Fat Cats & La Banana, where the staff are very friendly, accommodating & value for money food & drink. Feel so sorry for those who stayed all inclusive here. I would go back to Bulgaria but DEFINITELY NOT to The Victoria Palace.

Victoria Palace looks fabulous at first sight. The entrance hall is stunning and everything appears to be luxurious for the first few minutes of your stay.
For a 5 star hotel thought "surely it can't be that bad"- however i've stayed in better 2* hotels. Staff are useless and uninterested, there are too many guests in the hotel for them to cope with, some staff were lovely and helpful (i.e) the lady that cleaned the room on the fifth floor who did not speak English. The techno music they play by the pool area is a bit of a nightmare. Exceedingly difficult to find a sun-bed. Even though there was a sign to let guests know that if towels were left on the sun lounger’s for more than an hour they would be removed this was not enforced. So stayed by the beach most days, sun-beds are 8lev (£4) and umbrella is an extra £4 extra cost over 2 weeks stay. The Irish bar service was terrible music too loud, seemed like it was an effort for the bar men to give u a drink only 1 bar for all-inclusive guests and communal toilets are a joke dirty and smelly not enough of them. Then there was the food we were all inclusive and went for our first dinner the dining room what a shock we were in for the only edible food was cold chips the other food was SLOP SLOP AND MORE SLOP with something called mish mash??. Went out for food a number of times “extra cost again” for all inclusive. Bath is really high up so be careful when stepping out if the floor is slippery as you will slip right over. We found ourselves sitting on balcony which faces the Marvel hotel listening to their music around the pool and watching their entertainment.
Watched the manager on many occasions 2-3 times a day sorting out parking spaces as this seemed more important to him than the hotel guests. During our second week it rained and if you were in the glass covered area of the restaurant you would get a cold shower or soaked feet, and even the lobby would have water running into it.
I usually take reviews with a pinch of salt, though on this occasion, I wish I had listened!

I have never been so happy to get back from a holiday, the food was awfull and cold, we had ants all in our room the lifts kept breaking but the worst thing was the staff who were so rude, ignorant and unhelpful, another couple was complaining about there room when the receptionist started shouting at the woman then pulled her towards the counter by her hair. The beach and the strip was lovely but would strongly recommend staying in a different hotel

Just home from a weeks stay at victoria palace. Impressive hotel from the outside and reception area also impressive marble deco and some lovely features. Room was clean and very nice but a lot of other people we spoke to had awful rooms some without hot water, balconies flooded, and unclean with poor cleaning service. The food in the hotel was awful we ended up having to eat out for every meal as there was nothing we considered edible everything was cold. Staff in the bars were rude and unfriendly with no people skills whatsoever unless you were Russian or german. They had no time for the english your drink was just poured and put on bar. Will not be returning to this hotel again certainly not a 5 star hotel far from it. Very good restaurant just up the road called the star inn very friendly man called tony outside asking you in, excellent food with wonderfull staff, vey polite and friendly well worth a visit, but as for victoria palace don't go there.

Room Tip: Only have room with balcony and sea view

I took my partner way for his birthday with what I thort would be one of the best hotels there being a 5 star. Hotel out side was lovely and in the lobby I was amazed how beautiful it looked a little to much leopard for my liking but thats my taste. Had to change room on day two as it took them two days to get some curtains as a 5 star u would think they wud have some that fit. Every morning my partner had to go down stairs in a very slow lift witch broke twice by the way in one week just to get us a sunbed as people was saving thm at 4/5 in the morning and half of the time they never even used them. English have to wait last for there evening dinner and when u did go in there it was saved from lunch time. If ur hoping to get some cocktail good luck. they dont no how to make them they dont even under stand what a shandy is. They ran out of beer two days and if u want a proper drink u have to use there other bar and pay for it. We went breakfast once dinner twice and lunch twice so never got our money worth as we ate out. Had to ask for more toilet roll on two occasions staff never smile and people expect a tip for nuthing. Locals huddies hang out oppsite the main doors early hours in the morning talking to the security did not make me feel to safe at all. The spa rip people off it was a beautiful spa but they give different quotes so make sure u hangle. Im glad we never took the children because the animation/enterment was poor very poor we went next door to watch theres it was sad seeing the kids with nuthing to do. Sunny beach is a beautiful place and we would 100% go again but victoria palace is not worth ur money wella hotel is a 3 star and it is 100% better never once had a complaint with them when we stayed there 2 years ago..

Just back from staying in Victoria Palace. Walking up to the main door and into the hotel you get the 5 star feeling. we walked up checked in staff wasn't as polite one of the staff members insisted on carrying our luggage to our room. We got there and said thanks as he exited the room but continued to hold the door open, we were a bit confused and said tip ? and he goes yes and we said we don't have any small change and he said it was ok he did.

Waking up we went onto the balcony fabulous view, and we glanced down to the pool and could see sunbeds being occupied so got down and got one as people always left towels on them and went back to bed. the hours you would have to wake up at would be ridiculous went at 7.30 before and there was no empty sunbeds just towels.

The food was horrible, but cause we were all inclusive we decided to see what we could manage to pick out of it but ended up eating out most days for lunch and dinner. The only good part of the all inclusive was the drinks and the very nice barmen in the Irish Bar, they deserved all the tips they got. Never had an empty glass! The barmen at the beach bar very rude and ignorant. Overall staff in reception very rude and not helpful at all. Cleaning was basic, forgot to leave a tip one day because we hadn't been back to the hotel in a day and nothing was cleaned. Doctor service is terrible and an absolute joke!!

We also thought the safe was included in the room but it wasn't we had to pay an extra 50 lev for the key to use the safe that was built into the wardrobe. Also if you want to check out late if youve a late flight that night its an extra 10 lev per hour.

I would probably go back but not all inclusive, only for the convenience of having the beach right in front of you and being along the strips and also that the appearance of the hotel inside and out was lovely.

Room Tip: Double room sea view on the side of the market, very nice very quiet. Plenty of sun light!
