just back from the lira. Its family run and is a great hotel. We went room only for a really good price. You can get a proper English breakfast at the adjoining bar/snack area for only 6lv (just over £2.50) which includes tea or coffee.Service is very good and beer and cocktails very cheap. There is free wifi, free air con and a fridge in the room.On the downside it is well out of the lively part of sunny beach, but that was considered by most as a plus point.
Though no meals were included you could buy a set lunch or evening meal for 10lv. on a one off basis.Worth looking to see what it is first.

Just back from a 8 days at this hotel, and its great. Food is always good, the staff are very helpful and friendly, the bar at the side of the hotel is exceptional, both service, price and quality.
We are going back
the beach is about 20 min walk, but its easy, the supermarket/ corner shop is one of the better ones, and the pool, is brill, its been updated since google maps photos,

Just arrived home from a very pleasant holiday at this hotel. The staff were very kind and could not do enough for us. The food was simple but very good and very tasty. The pool is small but clean and adequate for a cooling swim; also very clean. The rooms are clean and pleasant and the best thing was a good night's sleep as there are no evening entertainment. (Evening entertainments are only about 10 minutes walk away)
The hotel is situated about 10 minutes walk away from the main resort attractions and beach.
Really good place to stay.

I have just returned from another fabulous holiday in Sunny Beach, where I stayed at the Hotel Lira, 8240 Sunny Beach, Bulgaria. I believe this is the first year that the hotel has been associated with Balkan Holidays.
I thought the hotel was great for the price and would happily stay there again.
The room was very spacious and clean and air conditioned. The bathroom was nicely laid out, with a massive shower area and equipped with a hairdryer. Whilst I was there, the televisions were replaced with flat LCD ones and the rooms were kept very clean. A word of warning regarding Bulgarian TV, hard core porn is broadcast at around 2am on one of the channels.
The pool is small but I personally am not a pool kind of guy and went to the beach every day.
The distance to the beach was great, I could get there in ten minutes at a leisurely pace, and there is a supermarket close by where I was able to stock up on cheap vodka to bring home, as the prices in the airport were outrageous.
The area surrounding the hotel was quiet, with no hordes of drunken youths staggering past, although the views from the balcony were not the most picturesque.
What made this hotel for me though, were the staff.
The Balkans holidays rep, Sylviya, was very friendly and approachable and because she comes from Nessebar, she has invaluable local knowledge
With regard to the hotel staff, Angel and his team are just so friendly and helpful. All of the staff were polite, friendly, helpful and professional.
The reception team of Hristina, Valya and Simona were welcoming, courteous and always ready to help.
The domestic staff were equally happy, friendly and always more than willing to help you.
I had a number of my evening meals at the hotel and I was very happy with the food, I was even happier with the prices, particularly drinks, with a large local beer costing 1 lev, at the time of writing that's less than 50p.
A special mention though, must go to Mira the waitress. She must be one of the hardest working people in Bulgaria.
For Mira, it seems that nothing is too much trouble, she is constantly smiling, and she does have a fabulous smile.
If you consider this hotel in terms of bricks and mortar then it is more than suitable for most peoples needs, with good standards and a good location, but the reason I rated it very good is because the team within the hotel are very good at what they do.
In summary, I would love to stay here again as long as they keep employing such great staff.

For the price we paid we got good service. Basic room with clean bathroom. Unfortunately, when we checked in the bed were made, but there were some cherry remaining in a corner. The mini bar and the air conditioning were not working. Beds were made daily and the bathroom and terese were cleaned daily.

Room Tip: Don't expect too much. Just the basics.

We stayed at Lira hotel for 10 days. The hotel is ok, clean, with condition, but we are not so exacting. Breakfasts were ok, basic buffet, but if you would like to get the best dishes, you've got to wake up earlier than others))) The pool is really very small but it's ok for us cause we came to the sea, not to the pool. They cleaned the room every day and changed towels and linen. The receptionists always were helpful.
So I recommend this hotel to non-execting people, cause in this hotel you can take a rest and sleep before parties and swimming in the sea.

I stayed here with my girlfriend, we booked it last minute and got a realy good price, Well i wasnt expecting much from the hotel because of the price we paid. when the bus pulled up to drop us off, the 1st thing i seen was the pool and it was 'tiny' i really had to laf when i seen the pool and so did the rest of the bus. Well the safe were very friendly, Hotel looked really clean and modern, i think it was only built in 2006. well the room were good, clean, big enough, nice bathroom, mini bar, ok size balcony, couldnt realy fault it, except for the view, wasnt much of a view, but didnt mind.

The pool area was always quite, and so was the hotel lobby, we never hung around the hotel we use to head off towards ther beach and use a different hotels pool. ;)
Another thing it was a good enough walk towards the beach, about 20mins, and my girlfriend was prignant at the time so, so she wasnt very happy with all the walking.
about 30mins or more walk towards the main strip,

all in all a nice hotel, bout the location was its downside and thats why i wouldnt return, to this hotel
