“Great location and hotel”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

We just returned from Helena Sands Hotel, is located at the quiet end of the Sunny Beach. Very comfortable rooms with a sofa for kids and king bed for adults. Excellent view from sea. Good food at the restaurant (breakfast and dinner) and very good service and food at the fish restaurant. Towel service, free beach but not very clean, sunbed and umbrela isn't great. Free wifi in hotel but not very strong signal. Too much noise from the corridor. We'll come back.

Room Tip: room with sea view!

In resort of sunny beach, but tucked into a quiet corner so ideal location. Room lovely, comfortable beds, tv, ac and spotlessly clean. Great big pool with lots of beds so no scramble for them. Free beach towel service, which can be changed each day. Stayed half board, food lovely and lots of choice. Free wifi in hotel but not very strong signal. Easy to reach resort centre, train, bus or taxi. Any questions please ask

Room Tip: Ask for sea view

Having just returned from a two week stay in the Helena Sands Hotel we can totally recommend this hotel on a bed & breakfast basis. We cannot rate the normal hotel restaurant as we did not eat there although we did have three evening meals in their fish restaurant which were by FAR the best meals we had during the holiday.
The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful, the room was spacious, clean and well equipped although a coffee making facility would have been good.
In a resort that we found tacky and over commercialized this hotel was an extremely good retreat as it is located at the quiet end of the resort.
Our only concern with the hotel was the "Beach Bar" which was in desperate need of refurbishment with uncomfortable, disintigrating wickerwork chairs where Karaoke appeared to be the only evening entertainment. To be fair however we never asked if this was indeed owned and maintained by the hotel itself.

Absolutely beautiful hotel, friendly staff, room was immaculate. We stayed in a room on the ground floor, with a balcony overseeing some basketball courts. Only thing i would have preffered would have been a pool view. however, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and if we ever return to Bulgaria, this would be our first choice of hotel.

We arrived home this morning from Sunny Beach in Bulgaria after a week at the Helena Sands 5* Hotel and it is exactly that! What an amazing hotel. Beautifully clean, comfortable, fabulously friendly staff throughout the hotel - nothing was ever too much trouble. The food choice at breakfast was huge. We chose to stay bed & breakfast simply because it is our 3rd year in Bulgaria and there is so much choice out of resort to eat and drink. The cost of meals is so inexpensive and such a huge variety.
The layout of the hotel is stunning with manicured gardens, beautiful pools and gorgeous public areas. Everything is immaculate everywhere. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and well designed bathrooms. Maid service everyday within seconds of leaving the room they are in and cleaning! A lovely relaxing lobby bar for before and after dinner drinks - open 24hours too!
The daytime animation team were lovely and not pushy at all. We loved the pool gymnastics!!
We will definitely go back to Helena Sands it is by far the most superior hotel on the Sunny Beach strip and well away from the noisy, busy end of Flower Street (which is great to wander round but even better to walk back to Helena)

Room Tip: All the rooms are of the same quality. We had a garden view as we have had a seaview in the past. I...

Myself and my husband stayed at this hotel for two weeks from 2nd July.
We had a great stay from arriving in early hours of the morning the check in was fast and easy.
Our room over looked the pool on the 2nd floor and the view was great.
The reception staff were always helpful especially Ralitsa who even before we arrived was responding quickly to my emails (Thanks Ralitsa)
This hotel is non-stop being cleaned round the clock and I mean 24/7
As most rev on this Hotel yes the pool is very cold but I was so hot it was welcome, best thing just go for it and get in but if the hotel could change just one thing please warm the pool a little bit.
The Helena Pk is great for people that want to just chill as it is at the end of the strip so you have the best of both worlds and if you want the loud bars they are only a walk away.
The further you walk up the strip the shops get cheaper so watch that.
The beach does have a private area for Helana guests and we found it less crowded during the afternoon and the sea is lovely and warm.
The food we found lovely and enough variety for everyone, we did choose the early sitting but changed after day 2 as it was a bit too early for us and as there was only two of us the restaurant Manager was happy to change us to the later sitting 8pm
The only thing I would say is the queue for dinner was getting longer as our holiday went on so 8.30pm was a good time to go for dinner.
It was my Birthday while we were on holiday and I was treated to a lovely bottle of fizz and Bday cake, also our table for dinner was decorated beautifully and I had a couple of gifts left in our room what was so kind.
The bar closes at 12 and we did get a couple of drinks to take outside so please have a thought for the lovely cleaners who have to wait to clear up your mess, we did give the regular cleaner a tip bless her.
The entertainment team were good and did make us laugh and they don’t hassle you to get involved if you do not want to.
Karnz Tent is a must the night was great and only ten minutes up the mountain.
We also did the Adults only boat trip that was also great and the food was fantastic.
All in all a great holiday well done Helana Pk just get that pool warmed up and you have cracked it
Jan Robey

Room Tip: Second Floor facing pool great rooms with sea and pool view

This was our second time in the Helena Sands Hotel. The hotel itself was as nice as we remembered it from our last year, our room was big as we booked a junior suite, it was clean and airy. We were on half board, both breakfast and dinner choices are the best you will ever see anywhere in the world, tasty and delicious. Even if you find you do not like something, you will find hundred other things to satisfy yourself, which our family did. The only thing is that they do not provide drinking water for the dinner (only for breakfast) or in the room, so you have to buy water for dinner and fetch liters of water from outside to your room, we did it in the evening while having our walk, but it is uncomfortable since you have to carry bottles of water with you. The hotel this size and this expensive should provide drinking water for free, but this is our family’s opinion, which we have expressed to the hotel manager, however I do not believe anything will change. Our big disappointment was the beach. It was bad last year when we visited, but this year was even worse. The first day we went to the beach I was scared to step on the beach or let my daughter play in the sand. Full of garbage, cigarette butts, old papers, even bottles etc. It looked like nobody cleaned it for a year! We complained to the reception and we saw the sand-cleaner tractor in the evening, but that was it. The next day it looked much cleaner, but the tractor never came back, so little by little after few days the beach was as dirty again as it was the first day we arrived. Then there were sunbeds and umbrellas… many of them broken and unusable. The hotel has about 50 sunbeds for 300 people! Forget getting the sunbed and the umbrella in the morning. Although the policy says no reservations with towels, my husband tried to stand up one time around 6 a.m. and went to the beach….almost all of the beds were reserved already! Not sure what time people woke up to reserve those beds. We tried once to fix one of the broken umbrellas without success and saw another man trying to do the same the next day since there are not enough beds for everybody. Guests trying to fix umbrellas and sunbeds ...this is a shame for a five star hotel! This was our seaside vacation and we went there to enjoy the seaside not to just sit in the hotel. The beach part of the vacation was important to our family and it was below of all our expectations….
The pool area was nice but the water in the pool was cold at least for us, although there were some people swimming in the pool. The service in the hotel was good but the situation with the beach and unwillingness to do anything about it from the hotel side left us disappointed and we decided not to come back next year. I am giving this hotel poor for service and value this time because of the situation with the beach area.
