We stayed with a group of friends for a long weekend during a trip to Bulgaria. The hotel gave us a great welcome with the expert Zornitsa on reception. We arrived early but she professionally sorted the rooms and gave advice on everything the hotel and surrounding districts had to offer. Nothing was too much trouble during our stay.

The buffet breakfast was filling, the pools were lovely and the pool bar was an excellent place to grab a coffee in the morning, a beer later or as a meeting point for our group. The hotel was very clean and everything worked well.

There was a smart bar/grill at the corner of the road, a supermarket and ATM opposite and bus stops for trips to Nesebar, Sveti Vlar or the airport. The main strip, Flower Street, was a ten minute walk or three stops on the regular orange resort buses. The beach was a few minutes away.

Room Tip: Higher floors may be best and rear away from pool & bar. But it was quiet after 11pm.

Do not understand why people have been complaining about this hotel. We have just returned from a wonderful 2 week stay at the Hotel Lion and have only praise for the cleanliness of the hotel and the hospitality of all the staff. Food is good and varied and with the free wine and beer now on offer for your evening meals we have only praise for this hotel.

Room Tip: all are good

Stayed here for 2 weeks from 5th sept. Half board. Very clean hotel.friendly staff. Room got cleaned every day. The pools got cleaned twice a day. Very quiet hotel. Just 5 mins walk to beach. No entertainment. Just music playing around the pool bar. Plenty of food to choose from. But can get abit boring. And didnt expect to get unlimited free drinks with meals. The only fault i could find was no tea making facilities in room. If u like a quiet hotel. This is ideal. Would return here. Well worth the money.

Room Tip: rooms at the front, will get the heat from the midday sun.

We have just come back from the lion hotel and had 2 fab weeks. As in the previous comments the reception staff, waiters, waitress , bar staff and cleaners are all brilliant.
Sadly not all tourist treat them with the respect they deserve. Show interest in their country, culture and them as individual people and you won't go far wrong.

Yes the rooms are a little dated but they are very clean and comfortable, who goes on holiday to admire the furniture or watch television?

The hotel caters for many nationalities and this is reflected in the food. Don't go if you want a great British fry up.....go on try something different !
After a few days we notice a microwave near the bread table, which was ideal, if like me you like your food really hot.

Although we were half board we tended to alternate staying for dinner at the hotel and eating out the next night. To eat out in Bulgaria is so cheap. Hawaii Bar is fabulous.

The hotel is Perfectly situated, down a quite side street, 10 min walk to beach, 20 min walk to flower street with lots of bars and shops on the way.

The best thing is the pool attendant removes towels from the sunbed, which people put out at silly o'clock and then saunter down to at midday. There was always plenty of choice any time of the day to get a bed.

Watch out for pickpockets near the bus stop in old Nessabar when boarding the bus.

All in all if you want a clean and comfy place to stay where you won't starve to death and are made to feel welcome I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Ps I would have given 5/5 for value AND cleanliness but the web page kept changing it to 4

First and foremost, the receptionist in this hotel was excellent. Right from our welcome and arranging some early checkins to help us after a long sleeper train journey from Sofia; to offering advice on places to visit and the most efficient way to get around, she was superb. I overheard a number of visitors checking out and complimenting her too so it's not just a "one-off".

The look and feel of the hotel is modern - especially the outside and pool area. The pool side food was superb (actually better than that served in the main restaurant!). The pools are nice; the sunbeds are crammed in a little.

Rooms are very clean indeed and modern (apart from the TVs - but I never switch a TV on when I'm on holiday anyhow so it made no difference to me!).

Cleaning is daily.

My balcony was not pool-facing so I didn't sit on it - but it was narrow anyhow and the balcony furniture just plastic chairs so better for drying towels than sitting on.

I ate in the main restaurant once and thought it excellent value for money. For the equivalent of £12 it's all-you-can-eat and includes wines and beers. I enjoyed my food - it was tasty and more than sufficient choice to make a meal.

Lovely stay over-all and recommended.
