Just sitting here in Sunny Beach - Condor bar (great for cheap drinks and cocktails with some alcohol in them) beware of the complete rip off bars with 2 for 1 deals. Arrived last Friday with Balkan holidays, our room on 5th floor was clean with friendly staff, no complaints about the room. The breakfast was edible for a few days but now dont want to see a fried egg ever again, heard the evening meals were boring and no variety of choice. Main prob is with the noise from rowdy drunk (mainly English) guests who come in at half past four in the morning pissed and diving into the pool then storming into the corridors to their rooms, went to complain this morning and was told I should call the reception when the noise started with the offenders room number - how would I know their room number when they were dooking in the pool?? Total nonsense they should have security patrolling to catch them when they arrive at hotel... Then there are the elusive sun beds - if you are not out with your towels before 7am you have no chance of a bed - they have plenty of signs up to say they will remove unattended towels by 10.00am this never happened and beds were captured by late revellers who slept till noon before surfacing from rooms. All in all a lovely hotel and area which would provide an excellent holiday if hotel staff enforced the rules they have plastered about everywhere

Fantastic hotel, we stayed in room 732, 7th floor with a sea and pool view, you could see around the coast both ways 180 degrees. Booked through Balkan, I advise booking with them, best flight times out of any other company for a Sunday flight from Glasgow. Been to Sunny Beach 4 times now and this is the best place we have stayed so far, it has everything to offer and cleanliness is at the top of the owners list. The only negative was hotel food but that is common knowledge with Bulgaria, they cater more for Germans/Swedish/Russians etc but don't be put off at all. We stayed half board, had breakfast a few times but ate out for lunch and dinner everyday for 2 weeks and still only spent around £800, unheard of in my book!! We ate at Marina Restaurant for lunch most days and 4 meals with 8 pints shared would cost 36 Lev, on our card exchange that was £14 at £1=2.44 Lev. 53p per pint by the way! Unreal!! The Fenix has internet, massage, bar, pool, mini bar in room, pool table, and if you were up early enough to sunbathe you could sit on our balcony from 7am-12.00 to enjoy direct sun on the balcony. I would definitely recommend this hotel, honestly, it is first class. Great places for eating out are Djannys, Marina Restaurant, Condor, Morris, Hawaii, Mamacitas, to name a few, great bars, Condor Bar (free wifi), Morris and you must try Evo's bar which is 20 mins walk along the front, right next to the Glarus Hotel, quality banter from the big guy I promise you! Get yourself to Sunny Beach, it's the place to be!!

Room Tip: Just ask for a high floor and pool/sea view, if staying with friends, ask for rooms next to each oth...

The Fenix Hotel was reccommended by friends who own property in Sunny Beach, it was a good choice apart from the food which left a lot to be desired. There are lots of good restaurants close by which are reasonably priced. We were booked for half board but only ate dinner once as the selection was very poor and the food was cold. We mentioned it next morning at breakfast and were told we could've used the microwave to heat it up!!! Most of the staff were really nice but there were the odd one or two that couldn't even raise a smile. The rooms were very spacious and kept clean with fresh towels every day. It was no problem to the cleaners to get us an extra pillow. One point to be aware of is keep an eye on the mini bar as the reception tried to charge us for things we hadn't had from it. The Hotel over all was great.

This was my second visit to the Fenix, and once again had a lovely holiday. It was nice to be remembered by the staff, as so many people pass through. We did have a couple of hiccups while there but they were sorted quickly.first was the ironing, we dropped off nine items and only got four back, but this was due to the lack of english on their part, we could not make them understand our dilemma. This was swiftly resolved upon the arrival of the Balkan holiday rep, Emmy who speaks very good english, Next was the air conditioning which was not working, but as soon as i told them at reception it was fixed. If you stay here you have to try Shabi's toasties they are great and at only 2.5 leva (just over £1) they are really really tasty!! The drink in the hotel is quite cheap, but a bit cheaper outside. Yes the food is repetitive but it is very cheap to eat outside. All in all my wife and I found this to be a great hotel to stay in as it was relativlly close to everthing and if we get the chance we would go back.

Room Tip: If you like to dry your washing go for a room facing the the beach and the higher the floor the bett...

Found hotel clean and food ok , a bit more choice on the evening meal would be an improvement Found most of the staff to be polite and helpful. Second visit to this hotel and will go back. Plenty of places to eat if you go self catering and still very cheap.Would recommend a visit to this Hotel

Hotel looks nice at first glance as if a lot of money has been put into decorating it but not a lot into upkeep.

First problem we had was a leaking shower.

They were poorly designed such that whenever we showered the water leaked right out the bathroom and made a considerable puddle on the carpet outside. As a result of this the smell became awful. We complained at reception and were told to use a towel to soak it up (it's surprising how little English the staff seem to know when there's a problem) they refused to let us move room or attempt to fix the problem.

The next night the roof above us started leaking and dripping.

They again refused to move us and gave us a bucket which only amplified the sound and kept us up all night long! After a sleepless night a workman, who looked like he'd been pulled off the street, entered our room after one knock at 9am whilst we were still sleeping and seemed to patch up the dripping vent.

We complained several times to our Balkan holidays rep who promised she would talk to the staff. We then attempted to complain once we had returned home and Balkan holidays informed us we had no right to complain as we did not fill out a questionnaire that had been left in the room (?!)

This hotel is in no way 4 star (the food was pretty basic too). The rating has obviously been issued locally, and Balkan holidays are a terrible company to travel with!! When I booked up I saw a similar review with a leaking shower and I chose to ignore it thinking it would be a one off, this is not the case! It's clearly a design fault. The blatant lack of respect and service we were given was what ruined this holiday.

ALSO- NO NIGHT TIME ENTERTAINMENT AT ALL!

(see the photos for examples of the leaking)

Fab hotel. We stayed in the apartments which were clean and spacious. Self catering seems to be the best option, and we found plenty of places to eat. We particularly liked a place on the right as you walked into the busy area (near the fairground) and a steak house opposite the back entrance to the shopping mall. Def. worth getting the boat over to (10 lev each way pp) and the train through the resort also proved handy (3 lev). Everything is really cheap (we were surprised). All in all, a good holiday :)
