A local friend recommended the Malatesta and consulting tripadvisor confirmed what the local had to say. Very friendly staff and a nice terrace. Inside seating is cosy too. The choice is not the typical Italian. We had fish, filet and desserts and everybody was quietly enjoying the meal. We left the Malatesta knowing we would be back.

Very interesting choices, combining original tastes. We had the fish dishes and it was delicious. First class service. Very nice setting. Highly recommended.

My wife and I found this little-bit-hidden place by using trip advisor and were glad we did. We were greeted by the co-owner, Ruben, and shown immediately to an outside table under a very nice pergola, but with a decent view of lake Maggiore . It was pretty busy for a Monday night and the service was great, but not overbearing. The wines of the region are mostly Italian, even though this it is in Switzerland, barely, but they were very good and the food was even better. We had the specially prepared Branzio wrapped in some sort of paper, and baked with vegetables. It was beautifully presented and the flavor remarkable. In fact, we went back a couple of days later and it was equally wonderful a second time. The view of the lake is better at some of the restaurants along the riviera part or town a couple of blocks south, but this was about one block off the main tourist boulevard along the lake. The food was superb and made you forget about the more limited view from here, after all, how many hours can one look at a lake while eating. After a while in traveling, the food becomes the driver and this restaurant understands that requirement for success in the food service venue. We give this place a 10 and would go back in a minute. Unfortunately, we live in California.

The food was good. The waiters were friendly would give good advises and spoke several languages (Italian, German, English, French). Nice view, place and decoration.
Worth booking in advance.
