Stayed one night in September en route to Jasper.Beautiful location just outside of town set well back from the highway.Room had two Queen beds and was vey clean and comfortable. Some train noise but didn't hear anything during the night. For supper try the family restaurant situated adjacent to the Knights motel in town, basic good food at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Only about twelve rooms to choose from,no preference.

we needed a place in between Vancouver and Jasper and ended up at the Mountain Springs Motel. Friendly staff, clean room, a few restaurants nearby as well as a supermarket and you can use the BBQ's if you want to.

While driving from Grande Prairie, Alberta to Vancouver Island, my wife and I stayed here for a one night enroute stopover. Because we had our pet dog with us, we were accomodated in room 12 which was one of the "pet friendly" rooms. The room was basic, but, even though we are pet lovers, we found the smell of past four legged guests to be quite overpowering.

The motel is just on the south edge of Barriere, and within earshot of the train tracks. We could hear passing trains, but they werent so loud as to be bothersome.

The couple managing the hotel were pleasant.

There was a decent sized fridge in the unit, the TV remote was intermittent, and the free wifi was a little slow and sporadic.

All in all, this was an average roadside motel, but not one that stood out. I think we paid around $70 for the room and I certainly don't see value above that.

This was a great place for us. We were concerned about what might await us, given that the price was so ridiculously low compared to all other hotels we stayed in BC. However, we arrived mid-afternoon and were greeted with our room being ready for check in, told how to use the laundry facilities, and were given carte blanche of the extensive grounds. The owner was gregarious (in a good way), recommended where we might eat (Sam's Pizza), where to get some wine (a very reasonable little liquor store in town), and how to access wifi. The wifi service was very good. We enjoyed just sipping our wine in the gazebo, sitting in the swing on the expansive lawn, taking walks around the property and in short just enjoying being in a "rural" atmosphere - catching up with some laundry and just relaxing. One caveat - Barriere is very limited with decent restaurants. We should have listened to the owner, but we chose Knight's Bridge; and. though the staff was friendly, the food and the wine were horrible. Also, in the morning we tried out the Bar K Treats, which has coffee and pastries (great cinnamon buns!), and we were delighted with the ambiance and chatting with the owner. If Barriere is your stop, then Mountain Springs Motel is your "home away from home."

Room Tip: We liked Room #9 (though property is quiet, this room provides even more buffer between the highway...

Some of the reviews mentioned a problems with noise from the trains. This was not a problem for me who is a light sleeper. The owner suggested that we keep the bathroom door shut and we would not be bothered by train noise. We did this and had a great sleep. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The unit was new and very clean, the beds comfortable and the grounds were well kept.
The only problem we had was with the internet connection. Again the owner was very helpful and connected us. We could not get a signal in the unit, but had no problem if we sat outside the unit. I suspect that the signal is not strong enough to go through all the unit walls. If internet is important, it might be helpful to ask for a place close to the office where the signal probably comes from. I'll stay here next time I need a motel in Barriere

New Owners very friendly and helpful. Rooms were modern and spotless. Every bit as inviting as the pictures show. Friends stayed in another room and were also very impressed. Reasonable rates also. Would recommend to anyone. Trains going by behind the property did not bother us at all but if you are a light sleeper you might notice them.

Small motor inn single floor motel with an RV pull through area. The grounds are very large with lots of grass and well maintained. Basic rooms but large, clean and well maintained. Unfortunately the main building backs up to the CN mainline with trains on average every hour. The second building with four rooms is better situated and away from the tracks but you can still feel them going by. The place is so friendly, reasonable and comfy it's almost possible to ignore the railroad issue.
