“La7ka Spa was a wonderful 'spoil me' treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

I was recently gifted with a day at the spa in Quaoout Lodge. Included were any 3 50 minute spa services and lunch in the dining room. I chose the Vichy shower and saltscrub, one of their facials and a pedicure. I added a couple more spa treatments as well.
When I got there they made me feel very welcome, the décor was understated yet elegant and luxurious. My aesthetician was very friendly, considerate and answered all my questions.

I can't say enough about the salt scrub shower - the shower bed was made to the spa's specifications in Australia of some kind of hardwood, and the treatment felt fantastic! It combined the cleansing of the salt scrub, the soothing shower and massaging in the final oil. All the spa products are made specifically for them, are paraben free and are based on native traditional plant therapy.
By the time I had enjoyed a wonderful facial, the additional services I had requested and had a pedicure I was ready for lunch. In the dining room they were anticipating my arrival, and my grilled salmon salad was delicious.
I highly recommend La7ka. Treat yourself if you're staying at the Quaoout , or if you live in the Shuswap area this is a wonderful way to get spoiled.

We were driving from Calgary to Vancouver through the glorious Rocky Mountains at the conclusion of a hectic round the world trip and decided to stay in one place for a few days. The location is near perfect, with each room having a cleverly designed balcony, with a view of Little Sushwap Lake and the mountains, without any balcony overlooking another.
The rooms are very clean, beds comfortable, although they are bog standard hotel boxes, but you don't stay here for fancy rooms.
The hotel has everything you need, pool, fitness room and a decent restaurant, with quality food. The bar is good too.
The hotel is owned and operated by the local First Nation People, whose history is very interesting and the Little Bear gift shop is well worth a visit for genuine First Nation crafts.
The restaurant manager taught me to remove the top of the neck of a champagne bottle with a knife (or sabre).
I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel for anyone needing peace and tranquillity, in comfort.
I didn't try the golf course, but others guests who did said it was excellent.

Room Tip: The suite is very special

We were recently there for a wedding and it took 2 hours to be served meals in the restaurant, there were no chairs by the lake, the complimentary wifi was sketchy at best and the rooms were incredibly small. We had 4 people in the room and only ever received 2 towels unless we requested more. Additionally, there were was no place to sit by the pool either. We wouldn't go back and likely would not have stayed the 4 nights had it not been for the wedding.

QuaaoutLodge, Front Office Manager at Quaaout Lodge & Spa at Talking Rock Golf Resort, responded to this review, 19 August 2014
Dear M.S.

It is unfortunate that the Quaaout Lodge did not meet your expectations. While we receive many very positive reviews from other travelers, perhaps we are not the type of establishment that you prefer.

We do value all feedback, and the issues you have noted have been addressed.

We do recommend that guests make advance reservations for meals in our restaurant to ensure they are able to dine at their preferred time, and we are able to provide the timely service expected. Groups greater than 16 people should contact our catering manager in advance to make arrangements.

Wi-Fi usage and bandwidth demand is constantly increasing. For 2014 we increased the bandwidth provided by our ISP, and upgraded the Wi-Fi system. We continue to work to improve service, however we are located in a rural area where available bandwidth may not be what guests from more urban areas might be used to.

Our housekeepers do check occupancy levels on each room to provide sufficient amenities for the number of guests in each room. We apologize for any oversight that occurred during your stay.

We have now purchased new beach chairs for our guests to enjoy.

Thank you for your feedback, and as always, if you have particular concerns about your visit that you would like to discuss we invite you to contact our general manager directly.

Best regards;

Rhys Laug

Nice place if you golf, but we arrived with a boat, and there is no place to dock your boat, beside a little dock for loading or unloading
Not allowed for mooring
The beach could be so much better if they put out chairs, have a spot for floatplane's, a helipad, I am sure they can get a lot more business, there is lots of potentials!
For the price you pay you expect more,maybe next year it will be there!!

Dear Ralphvw;

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about our resort following your recent visit.

It sounds like you can see some great potential here at the Quaaout Lodge and indeed we see it too. We are always looking for ways to improve our services, and plans for future developments.

Since your stay we have added beach chairs for guests to enjoy.

We do have a small floating dock for boaters to use, whether during their stay at the resort, or for boaters making a stop here to have a bite to eat at our restaurant or take in a round of golf. We also have the occasional guest who boats up the river from Kamloops to stay a night or two. Guests are permitted to tie-up to our dock, although we do warn that this is at their own risk as the lake does on occasion get rough and our bay is fairly open. Some visitors choose to beach their boats , or anchor offshore.

For guests staying at the hotel looking to launch their boat, the nearest public boat launch locations are at Memorial Park or Mill Park in Chase or at the Shuswap Lake Provincial Park in Scotch Creek.

We are considering setting out a few buoys in the future for guest use, although this has yet to be confirmed. We do want to preserve the natural beauty of the lodge property that so many of our guests enjoy.

For aviation enthusiasts there is the nearby Skwlax Airfield, managed by the Little Shuswap Lake Indian Band. With advance notice, we do provide shuttle service to golfers and other visitors who choose to fly into this location. Please note that this is an unserviced private airfield. It is also possible for a float plane to tie-up to our dock, although we recommend calling ahead of time in late summer through fall to check on water levels as the water can get quite shallow in our bay.

Thank you for your suggestions. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

Best regards;

Our son and new daughter in law were recently married and both the ceremony and reception was at Quaaout Lodge. Most of the wedding guests stayed 2 nights in the Lodge.

Our guests were overwhelmed by the outstanding and friendly service in every area, the tremendous food and dining experience, the amazing and wonderful golf course, the overall ambience of the resort and ..... the wedding ceremony and reception was simply overwhelming.

From our perspective the wedding simply could not have gone better and virtually every one of the +100 guests indicated they would stay at Quaaout Lodge again. Terrific job by the team at Quaaout lodge.

We only spent on night here (Sunday night), it has the feel of a very small hotel (and in many ways it is). Rooms were very nice, nothing special on the decor, but spacious and with working refrigerators. They all also have nice balconies for sitting outside. The toilet in our room #104 did spontaneously flush about once every 2 hours, but we were only there one night and just ignored it. We checked out the gym, it was about what you would expect, but perfectly serviceable.

The grounds are very nice, it was a bit chilly but we walked down to the beach and around the grounds, very nice. Didn't try much else but it was a very nice and easy to check-in and check-out. Free parking and free-wifi.

Room Tip: As for one with a view of the lake from your patio... ours was too far back to see.

Stayed at Quaaout Lodge for 2 nights while attending a 50th anniversary celebration. This was our first day. Large rooms, with a view of water from it;s balcony. Relaxing atmosphere and very helpful staff who go out of their way to see if everything is okay. We enjoyed the gift shop and learned about the native culture. We would love to return and take our grandchildren and their parents as there is a lovely private beach and great golf course.Didn't rate spa as we didn't use facilities
