We spent our honeymoon at the West Coast Wilderness lodge and couldn't have been happier with our decision. The scenery was spectacular. The service was great. Our adventure guide Catherine was fantastic. She really made our trip extra special.
Highly recommend this wonderful place.

We spent 2 nights at the West Coast Wilderness Lodge after returning to Pender
Harbor from Princess Louisa Inlet in our 26 foot MacGregor. We LOVED this
Lodge. We found all the employees and the owner to be VERY helpful and
friendly. We loved our stay -- food was very delicious, service was wonderful,
the outdoor hot tub looked down on the water and wilderness, our room was
very comfortable and the view from within our room and out on our patio was
beyond spectacular. Really can't say enough for this resort. It is a very
special place for us..

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the water. It is worth the price! Be sure to sit in the hot tub and look out...

Our bliss-provoking stay at the lodge was indeed in a nature focused location at the end of the road, but this was wilderness for those who want comfort in the experience. The location and the view are beautiful, with the main building restaurant and the cabins and the decks well designed to make the most of the surroundings.
Comfort, warmly hospitable personnel, an excellent restaurant.....great halibut at dinner and eggs Benedict for breakfast.....the stunning view of the passing boats on the inlet, and the Big Dipper, larger and brighter than we had ever seen it, hanging low over the mountains on the other shore. and all of it wrapped in a profound and soothing silence. I know there are also excellent adventure and nature appreciation opportunities available here, but ours was a one night stay because a wedding party was taking over the whole lodge the next day.....and what a glorious location for an outdoor wedding, even in September!

Room Tip: The rooms with a view of the inlet are choice but the others looked good too, land were private and...

We were late for the ferry on the Sunshine Coast, praying for lodging somewhere along the wooded highway. Boy did we get lucky! THE LODGE IS CHOICE, from the cozy cottage where we bedded down for the night to the delicious fish chowder that began our late dinner upon arrival. Paul, the owner, is friendly and knowledgeable. The entire staff treated us with warmly gracious hospitality. Oh, and the view. There is that. It's a postcard.

After a life time of travel across our great planet I was more than surprised by the level of comfort and service we encountered at the West Coast Wilderness Lodge
The West Coast Wilderness lLodge has got to be one of the most easy going resorts I have been to, the staff is amazing, the owner Paul and Patti were so accomadating it was like being at my favourite aunties house great food with wonderful smells coming from the kitchen made it difficult to choose from their fabulous menu , the rooms were high class and very large with big plush beds and views to die for, the resort had so many activities to choose from it would be impossible to not have an adventure of a life time
All in all this was a 10 out of 10 experience
We have been travelling to the Sunshine Coast for a few years searching for our little piece of paradise to build our very own get away lodge ,we searched from Gibsons to Egmont staying at many of the sunshine coasts resorts and hotels ..... heck I have travelled the world and been to more hotels than I can remember ..... This place called the west coast wilderness lodge provides every accommodation for every type of person ..... lakes to swim in ,trails too walk on a great big sea for fishing , calm waters for canoeing and wild rapids for the experienced kayaker views for every camera to steal ....mother nature shares the wild life with everyone .... It is beyond imagination pods killer whales , greys and swarms of up to 200 porpoise/dolphin frolic in the sea right in front of the resort , bears and otters roam the coast line foraging for a snack on the beach the seals and sea lions bask in the sun on the rocks between fishing trips , eagles soar the wide open sky , so many little creatures on the beaches and in the forests i don't think a botanist could catalogue all of them in a life time . Simply put a fabulous lodge in a picture perfect location surrounded by nature at her finest
I would recommend this spot to any one of any age ....... It will soothe your soul it will engage your senses and give you a breath of fresh air that will last a life time
over the years I have had opportunity to feast in the ocean side dining room and have noticed that each time I return the whole resort gets a new something or other this year they added more luxury suites over the coming winter they are doing more to make vacation time even more spectacular ............they don't call iBritish Columbia the greatest place on earth for nothing......

Thanks to all of you at the west coast wilderness lodge , too bad your not open in the winter months the wet version of a west coast rain forest is also an incredible sight for all to experience so glad we finally got to stay with you .....

Room Tip: Every room is amazing ,we stayed in a few as we had no reservation, i would encourage you to reserve...

As you will quickly learn, the owner of the place is very involved in daily management and making sure everyone is happy, and he clearly enjoys what he does. Tucked in the middle of nowhere, but remotely close to bigger towns (45 min away from Sechelt), its a great feeling of responsibilities lifted. No cell service and very spotty Wifi (i didn't consider this a bad thing on the trip). When we arrived, we were greeted by our host and then show to our oceanside view room. It was spectacular, just all from the view alone. The room itself is very average at best, lower end finish out. Bathroom was nice and updated, but water pressure was poor. And no Air Conditioning. All of this sounds not good, but it amazingly all worked perfectly for the location. At night, it cools off enough with windows open to sleep perfectly. Good sized LCD tv for a little tv watching if you need to. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've slept in a long time. It was also my best night sleep in years. We stayed active during the day with Hiking, Kayaking, boat tours etc... We also enjoyed a nice patio at the restuarant or at the marina restuarant with some good local brews on tap. Food was also very good at both restuarants. Inlets was nicer.

Room Tip: The best fitness center in the world: endless activites to do out in Nature. Go Explore!

A few comments and suggestions: the lodge is beautifully situated overlooking magnificent vistas. We had 2 rooms: the larger ocean view suite (502) was lovely, spacious with a balcony that overlooked the inlet and was perfect for lounging and reading if you could tear yourself away from beauty below. The other (501), with a partial (very partial) ocean view was considerably smaller but pleasant in particular for a couple who did not intend to stay indoors much. The beds in both were comfortable. Both rooms were clean, simply appointed but warm. I highly recommend the dinning room in the hotel for breakfast; delicious, plentiful and appreciated by both parents and children. The other meals were a little too fussy, but simple dishes such as the tomatoes and mozzarella salad and the soups were excellent. The personnel were friendly and attentive, in particular our waitress at dinner time, but all of the front office personnel as well. As far as activities, they tend to be very pricey. We did have a great time kayaking with their wonderful guide from New Zealand-very patient, enthusiastic and helpful. Lots of wildlife! We also took the zodiac tour to the Princess Louisa Inlet-If you like nature, boats and dream of the wild as it used to be, this is a trip for you. Here again Michael our guide was excellent. There is very little else in the town of Egmont, so do not count on much else locally. There is however one culinary treasure to experience: the extraordinary bakeshop in the path to the Skookumchuck rapids (do not try to see these at low tide...high tide is a must): the couple who run it (the husband is the carpenter who built the cabin, his wife who bakes and cooks) do an incredible job. The baked goods are second to none and you would be hard pressed to find better items anywhere. A must; actually a daily must, well worth a detour! The husband also runs the front of the bakery with good humor and many helpful suggestions. Another suggestion: try a swim in Waugh lake,a few minutes walk from the lodge. The water was enticing, and the lake pristine, devoid of other people when we went there, although it is just of the road. Another suggestion: do not go fishing from the lodge, but rather try Jeff Stieben with Pender Harbor Tours; we spent a wonderful 3 hours with him, catching loads of fish starting from Madeira, a 30 minutes drive South from Egmont. He took five of us for a fraction of the cost that the lodge would have charged us.
