We stayed here based on reviews from other travelers. The motel is older and the floor slopes (at least in room 7.) It was clean and had a comfortable bed. The wall mounted air conditioner was noisy so we turned it off--it didn't have a thermostat so it ran all the time. However, after turning it off it was too warm even with the ceiling fan. The back door of the room leading down to the river was a nice touch. There are real plates and silverware in the room that came in handy with the fruit we had for breakfast. There is no breakfast provided at this motel.

Thanks for your comments, you should have told us about the air conditioner before you left, and we could have helped you work it, they all have a range of fan speeds, and some of the thermostats are inconspicuous. We added the ceiling fans last year for the light sleepers, and a lot of guests like to set the air conditioners for the day and then revert to the overhead fans for the night. Although we close the reception around 10pm we live on site, and are happy to answers any of your concerns 24/7 . Pleased that you enjoyed your visit, hope to see you again soon.

The Robinson's are just fabulous, we were there for my 50 year school reunion, and were treated like family. We had a king facing the river and everything was very clean, and we were happy to have stayed there 2 nights, the pool was great, it was outdoors, and on a hot day was great to cool off without it being to cold. We look forward to stay there again.

Room Tip: we were in #14, and the back faced the river and you could climb down a bit of a hill to it. It wasn...

We had so many reunions this year it was great fun, but the summer months fill up really fast quite often a year in advance so book ahead. We have four king beds now, three of which have car ports. Hope to see you again soon.

We stayed one night on our way to the coast. We chose the town because it was roughly half way and we chose Johnny's because of the trip reviews. The room was clean and ideal for a good night's sleep. They were very accommodating when it looked like we would arrive late.

Johnny's is now on our for sure stay there list when we drive the number 3 highway.

Located just past the river in the east side of town along Hwy 3, this old motel is clean, neat and outfitted with great beds and quiet rooms. The back of the property is lawn right next to the river. People were enjoying the picnic tables and barbecue grills that are available at dinner time. It is a very relaxed property with a friendly staff and everything one needs for a great nights sleep. When a motel is full midweek it indicates a good property and this is surely one. The other travelers I spoke with said they always stay here when passing through Grand Forks and I must agree that we would again stay here.

Room Tip: All the rooms face the lawn and river...I could not see a bad room.

We had never been in Grand Forks before and chose Johnny's from Tripadvisor recommends. It is motel but so sweet! and the owners/hosts are very welcoming and delightful. We stayed 3 nights and had #6 - one of the rooms with patio doors - and actually cancelled some plans at the end so we could just sit on our little patio spot and enjoy the morning sun and the river babbling by. So peaceful and wonderful. This town has a lot of amazing restaurants as well so we ate too much and very well. You can walk to many of them (including morning coffee) from the motel and you can bike down some lovely paths and are nearby a waterfull/gorge area and then of course Christina Lake. We'll be back! Only caution if you like lots of space - the room was tiny but with the great weather we simply sat outside most of the time anyway.

We appreciate your comments, and are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We do have several units with patio doors, but room 6 is slightly smaller than the rest, but tends to be popular as it is the only unit with a carport as well as a patio door.

We had an excellent two night stay in July and have re-booked a three night stay in August. Enjoyed the pool and the river - an added bonus to be at the outskirts of town to really enjoy the ambience. Even had a place to wash our bikes! The hosts, Clive and Nicky, were very accommodating, aimed to please and really made us feel welcome. We would highly recommend Johnny's to any traveler.

Room Tip: Room 22 was spacious, nice comfy beds, clean bathroom and fridge and microwave. Patio in the back wa...

Thanks for taking the time to post a comment. All of the rooms have a door onto the riverbank, and for the motorbikes we have some units with car ports, but you need to call ahead as they tend to go first.

When I travel with a group of friends we always look for an old style motel where we can hang out outside with the convenience of being right outside the door of our rooms. This location was perfect, the back of the hotel has a nice grassy area along the river with picnic tables and bbq's available. It was exactly what we were looking for. The rooms were clean and somewhat upgraded and very reasonably priced. The management (Johnny) was very friendly and helpful, and the English accent provided a little charm, I will definitely consider staying here again when/if I travel through this lovely little town.
