“We told her we'd take her camping.....”
Reviewed 14 June 2013

We promised our 4.5 year old daughter that we would take her camping on our family holiday this year and as I do not like tents this seemed like the perfect solution. Cabins in the woods! It was wonderful. We stayed in #2 and the loft and full kitchen were just perfect. We were able to relax on the little porch and just enjoy nature. It is right beside the hotsprings and we had a great time there. The cost of the hotsprings is comparible to other hotsprings. The room was very clean and retro - reminded me of what a cabin is supposed to be. (television is NOT needed while camping so I was grateful that the TV was small and tucked away) The grocery store in town was surprisingly well stocked with everything that was needed to make a fabulous camping-esque meal. Would definatly visit again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in one of the chalets. We rented the entire unit as we had 6 family members in our party. Our parents took the small unit at the rear of the chalet, while our children slept in the loft and we occupied the double bed on the main floor. These chalets are cozy and cute...very retro decor...we loved it! Had a lovely meal cooked over the campfire and enjoyed meeting other guests around the fire that evening as well. It's a short walk over to the hot springs pools and we used our day pass to the fullest by purchasing it the evening before so we could have a dip before bed, then again 4 more times the following day...great deal for $15. Very relaxing and serene setting, lovely hiking trails and the ambience of the rushing river through the open window was a treat to fall asleep to each night. Excellent fresh, clean drinking water - no worries about drinking the water here. The chalets contain everything you need and we showered at the Hot Springs after our swim, so not having a shower in the room was not a concern to us. We had previously only camped in the campground, but whichever accommodation you choose, they are both terrific. We also had 2 dogs with us and were grateful for the pet friendly accommodations. Thanks for a lovely Mother's Day weekend...we can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Chalet 4 and 4A was the furthest from the pools, but also detached from the other buildings and full...

Located 10km from nakusp up in the mountains the cedar chalets can be found right next to the hot springs ($15 for a pass). Their are four chalets, each split into three units. We were initially put into 3a, one of the cheaper chalets located at the rear. It was pretty dark and the window catch was broken so it wouldn't open, but clean. The TV was a 14 inch old CRT with a satellite box and there's no WiFi.
after being there for 10 minutes it was apparent there is no soundproofing between the units as we could very clearly hear the hockey game being watched by our neighbours so we asked to move and they obliged no problem to 1a which had nobody else staying in the chalet for the first night. Much better room. Bigger, has a breakfast table, couch , bigger TV and daylight! Day 1 was blissfully quiet too. Day 2 we got neighbours and could happily follow all their conversations. There were no showers in either of the two units either, just a bath.
Staff are helpful and friendly.
In summary, if you are sensitive to noise or expect this to be a quiet mountain retreat you may be disappointed. Without neighbours or if you book out all three units its actually quite nice.

I love the chalets in Nakusp...rustic..quiet..bring your own selection of food and use the kitchenettes to cook breakfast..lunch and dinner. Every year we do potluck...
Wake up in the quiet of the mountains..have breakfast..go for a hike..a little lunch..go float in the tubs...have a nap..have dinner..go float..go to bed. Most relaxing weekend you could ever have.

The chalets are in a great location right next to the Hot Springs and up the road from the campground. The manager was very accommodating and gave us a choice of which unit we would prefer as they had vacancies. We were able to view a few of the units before making a decision. We were also told of trails we would enjoy and we did enjoy them. Our unit was clean, the bed was comfortable and the kitchenette was well stocked.
The chalets are advertised as 8 units but there are actually 4 buildings and in each building there are two units- one smaller unit and one larger unit (which has a loft). We stayed in a larger unit and slept in the loft. The issue we had was that you can really hear the people next door as there is no insulation between the units and it appeared there was only a hollow door separating the units. We could hear the people very clearly as they carried on a conversation. We were disappointed as we were in a very nice setting in the mountains and we had to turn on the T.V. so we could not hear the people next door. ( They also woke us up in the morning with their conversation). One other issue was there was no hot water the next morning so we had to heat water on the stove in order to have a bath. ( There are no showers in the units only bathtubs.)

We stayed here for a night while traveling around BC and it was wonderful. Nice cabins, very clean and comfortable, and the proximity to the hot springs can't be beat. Very inexpensive too and a nice place to get away from it all. We very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

We stayed as recommended in the larger unit and found it very clean and comfortable. The hot springs are beautiful - there were only a few people in when we arrived on a very sunny June day. We loved lying in the water watching the mountains and my husband was fascinated with trying to catch the humming birds on camera. The chalets had everything we needed and we cooked there. It was so peaceful - I highly recommend staying here - you will love it!!!

Room Tip: Choose the larger unit even if you are a couple
