We haven't been to this little restaurant for years and were very happy we decided to call in there this weekend. The bucket of clams were perfectly cooked, seasoned and were super fresh - delicious. The lingcod fish & chips and salad were the same - thick, juicy chunks of lingcod, and homemade apple pie you would be hard pressed to beat. Drinks were reasonable - good strong margaritas and affordable, quality wines also available. Really great, comfortable dining experience and they obviously care about what they are doing in the kitchen.

A friendly local recommended this cafe on the main road. We are so glad he did. It has genuine charm, and we felt immediately welcome and cosy. There is a wide range of organic vegetables and salads, and the seafood! We ate the best halibut there of anywhere in Canada (and we tried a lot of halibut). Instead of the usual ""death by batter"" they can actually grill the halibut and the flesh is sweet, juicy and just as nature intended. We also had an entree of grilled scallops with bacon and tomato salsa - wonderful dish! Even if you have to travel out of your way to eat there, do so. You won't regret it.

Drove the Pacific Marine route from Victoria via Sooke and Port Renfrew and this place made the perfect stop-off midway round. Excellent food, great service.

Easy to miss (coming from Sooke, you have to ignore the sign/turn-off for Lake Cowichan and continue up the road for a mile or two) but if you are doing the drive, this is the best place to grab something to eat.

Thank Mike L

We live in Victoria, and decided to do the circle tour, Victoria to Lake Cowichan - to Port Renfrew. When we arrived in port Renfrew we decided to stop at Coastal Kitchen for lunch. Since we were travelling with our dog, we had a nice table outside. Service was great, very friendly and ready to help us with anything we needed. I had the calami appetizer with a bowl of the seafood chowder. Both were excellent. Prices were good. Nice place would go there again.

Not much in Port Renfrew, but we were pleasantly surprised to find this little gem. Great fish and chips. The desserts looked amazing, but we were too full to have any! Great place to stop after exploring the Juan de Fuca.
