We stayed at the tree house cottage for two nights and had a wonderful time. As long as you're aware that the location is not walking distance to restaurants and prepare ahead of time to cook in the cottages (very well stocked) or are willing to drive 10 minutes for meals the location is not a problem. Management were very quick to respond to my many emails when booking as I was using a living social vouchers, I think without the voucher (i.e. paying the normal rate) I would definitely have wanted to stay in the main house with the balconies and water views and breakfast but given the lower price we paid I am satisfied with the value for money. Would come back.

A WOW place! We stayed in Wild Berry Cottage for our honeymoon. The drive there is GORGEOUS and peaceful - a fun way to see the views of the Sunshine Coast. The ferry ride is beautiful as well. Wild Berry Cottage is a short walk from the stunning views of the water. We walked there in the evening to take pictures and enjoy the sunset. The cottage is definitely in the category of "luxury." The owners had so many cute details - a private hot tub with a lovely walkway to it (including a private bridge going over a little creek), bathrobes, a kitchen with all of the cooking utensils we needed, a blanket for cuddling on the comfy couch, etc. We didn't use them, but there were a couple nice flat screen televisions along with a large collection of DVDs to choose from. There are a couple towns nearby that are fun to explore. Gibsons was our favorite town. We loved the pier. Mike's Ice Cream shop was stupendous (gelato!). Our favorite restaurant was Gumboot in Robert's Creek. We also loved Sita's in Gibsons. There are many hikes in the area and kayaking would be beautiful. A peaceful, relaxing place. The owners were welcoming and friendly. They gave us many helpful recommendations on places to go and things to do.

Outstanding ocean front suites offering all the amenities of home. Two course gourmet breakfast brought right to your room. The on -site day spa is a must. The perfect spot for a romantic getaway. We will defiantly be back and would highly reccomend the Tuwanek Hotel to friends and family.

We just used the African Queen room for 2 nights and had a wonderful, relaxing (yet activities are there at hand!) time - excellent get away location, quiet and secluded, but not too far from amenities (had a great supper at Daphne's - Greek style salmon - yummy!). The facilities are top-notch, luxury but with character you would not find in a hotel - and so nice that the place is quite new and comes with gadgets like the i-pads!! From the huge glass shower enclosure to the gourmet in suite breakfasts....from the moon on the water from our private balcony to our private use of the media room for a late night DVD viewing, from the beachcombing (always bring aqua sox when visiting the Sunshine Coast!) to the romantic mosquito netted high 4-poster bed and long luxurious soak in the claw foot tub! Spacious room, comfortable, beautifully appointed....besides the view across the vast bay to the deep forrest, we loved the decor and the stained glass windows filtering the sunlight in the bathroom....(the pictures DO NOT do the place justice!)

We will definitely be back and are already raving about the place to our friends.

Thanks so much Chris & Krista! You guys are great hosts! (as I told Chris - I've seen the suites famous people use at the Wedgewood and the Sutton Place - this room blows them away!)

And we always appreciate that the ferry to SS coast is so easy - promptly boarded and reasonable fares, and a short 40 mins ride.

This is my second time staying with this establishment. It is exceptionally wonderful. The location is fabulous.
On the first visit I went with my girl-friends. We walked in the door and were wowed by the place. It was spacious and beautifully decorated. The view from the windows was spectacular. We had a lovely stay.
The second visit was just as wonderful. We went as a family and had a great time connecting and enjoying the facilities. The kids gave me a hug and thanked me for the weekend! It was wonderful all the way round.
The staff were helpful and friendly. They had awesome ideas of things to do in the area that were appropriate for the occasion and audience.
I highly recommend this place! It was exceptional.
Thank you Chris and Sharon for making our stays so memorable!

Tuwanek hotel, having just stayed the weekend in the Sunset Beach suite.

Stayed with two-year-old, location had lots to see but wouldn't be recommended for a young family due to the many steps down to the beach.

Location is out of the way, depending on your desire this may be a benefit or hinderance. It's about a 15 minute drive into Sechelt for restaurants or groceries.

The room was decent and bright with a large shower in the washroom. Too many gadgets to suit our fancy, took awhile to figure out the television setup and the thermostat was too space-age and wanted to do its own thing.

Breakfast was good although as we are early risers, the rigidity of the breakfast schedule seemed odd. We thought most people visiting for outdoor activities may wish to be out by 7AM or so instead of having to wait until 0830. We had to catch an early ferry and were stuck at McMuffins for breakfast. At least some cereal / toast and fruit in the common area could meet both needs.

Though some have a great experience here, we felt the owners were not at ease, possibly because we had a small child. Our experience took a downer when we returned home to an email suggesting we had taken an ipod charger and were immediately charged the replacement cost, without even calling to check with us first. The situation was resolved within 5 minutes after us emailing back...we left it securely in a drawer. Even though the charge was quickly reversed, no apology followed. Next time > > please call your customers first as a courtesy!!!

Likely not to be back, although the town of Sechelt and surrounding beaches were a delight - restaurants such as Daphne's and Blue Heron were excellent value with good food and great service.

Thanks for your review and email. Thought I would just clarify that we do not charge for any missing items in a guest suite until after we have talked with the guests. In most cases the Ipad chargers are accidentally packed and often returned the next day. In your case it had been put away in another location away from the Ipad so we had the cleaning staff check and they were able to locate it after we spoke.
The hotel is adult oriented but we do make exceptions for the lower beachfront suite in extenuating circumstances but as you can appreciate we have to be sensitive to the needs of our other guests so we would love you to come back another time and try one of the cottages which are children friendly.

We stayed in the Wild Berry Cottage and it had everything you will want. We enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the sound of the creek out back. The bed was super comfortable and the private hot tub out back was amazing. There wasn't one thing we didn't like about it. Fantastic place to stay. Very helpful owners and staff. Absolutley a must do. In fact when some says in a question type of way...do you want to Tuwanek? Say YES!

Everyting they have thought of: Heated floors in bathroom, Apple TV, DVD, Cable, WiFi, BBQ, Fire Wood, Fire Stove, Gas Fire Place out back, Robes, Towels for indoors and outdoors, Guest Book, Comfy Bed and Couch, Great throw blanket, BIG TV's, Private Hot Tub with groomed path way and lights....the list goes on and on.

Room Tip: The Wild Berry Cottage does not have a direct water view but is 1 minute walk to waterside. If I ha...
