“Pleasant family-owned motel, with one limitation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

I stayed for one night at the Blue Sky Motel. Every reviewer who said that the owners, Elena and Jordan, are delightful people--helpful, friendly, honest businesspeople--is quite right. I believe they live on the premises. My room was spotless. The ambiance was delightful, with the ocean and dock just across the street. It was very peaceful.

The one limitation that made the Blue Sky Motel not work for me is that there was no phone in my room. This would obviously not be a problem for anyone who has cellphone coverage, but I didn't have a working cellphone. The room did have free wifi and, of course, television, both of which worked fine.

Room Tip: A room at the front of the motel has quite a clear view of the water, although a road runs in front...

We stayed as three couples on the August long weekend. We had two cabins in the front and one in the back and we booked all four of the front ones for next year. The setting is perfect with the beach and the dock right accross the road and the market right next door. Jordan is an amazing host. We stopped before our golf game to see if we could check in early and he was most accomodating. We had a lot of gear as we had been boating for a week previous and he let us put in the room, cleaned around it and then reorganized it all. Wow! He'd build a campfire and pull out the lawnchairs each night, and I saw him rigging some kids up with fishing gear to fish off of the dock. The cabins are rustic, but very clean and the beds were comfortable. The front ones are all equipped with full kitchens and essential utensils. Highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Front rooms have a view of the water

The Manager was a very nice guy and gave us information that was helpful for a bite to eat. We were only looking for a sleep over until we caught a ferry in the morning. It was well priced, clean, simple accommodations. It is not fancy and is priced exactly right in my opinion. A waterfront park is directly across the street.

Room Tip: The units in the back units are quieter... buffered from the road noise.

Host welcomed us before we were off the bike, very friendly.
Neat, clean and well kept for its vintage, currently doing updates.
Well located along the oceanfront, close to a large wharf and a restaurant .

Room Tip: Great place to relax while on the road

We stopped at the Blue Sky Motel while heading to Mile 0 on the Sunshine Coast. As we were riding by the motel, a friendly man waved to us. Right then I thought what a friendly place. The rooms are very clean, and updated. Jordan and Elena run a top notch place... We will be back again!

Remember those motels you see in the movies? This is one of them. We stayed in one of the two cottages out front and loved it. It is old fashioned everything but it is clean,we'll kept, right on the main drag and is directly across from the sea. There is a convenience store beside it so one can pop over and get a coffee or scone in the morning or a sandwich for later. A dandy restaurant is a few yards in the other direction. The kitchenette has the necessities one needs. This is our second stay here and will return a third time. The place fills up fast so make a reservation. Gotta love the gravel parking lot!

Room Tip: Spend the extra and get a cottage!

Vacationed with my family first week of August and stayed at the Blue Sky. This is my second time at this hotel having first stayed there in 2007. I didn;t mind it at all in 2007 but it has now been significantly updated and was even better this time around. Clean, Comfortable, Very roomy and very reasonably priced considering your a few steps from one of the most beautiful beaches on the Sunshine Coast with a direct ocean view. Jordan our host made us feel more like friends rather than guests during our time there. He always had time to stop for a chat as well as joining us on many evening for a beverage and some laughs as the sun set over the Pacific. Upon arrival at the hotel Jordan immediatley indicated very clearly that if there was anything he could do for us to please ask. I took him up on his offer our second day there when my stepson wanted to go fishing on the pier but we had not brought any rods. I asked our host if he might have some rods he could lend us and within 5 minutes of our request we had two usable fishing poles and were off to the pier to try our luck. The guy just bent over backwards our entire stay there to make sure that everything we needed was promptly supplied. The Davis Bay area itself is a wonderful spot for families with the great beach as I mentioned as well as the pier for fishing. I highly recommend this area and this hotel in particular. It is not a mistake that it is rated #1 in the Sechelt area for accomodation. Thank you again Jordan and family for making our stay a wonderful experience. We'll see you next year!

Room Tip: if your staying as a family I highly recommend room 7. 2 double beds, a single as well as double hid...
