A group of us, including children as young as 9, rented both single and double kayaks. It was a wonderful 2 hours on the water. Be sure to ask how to get to the "aquarium" - you don't want to miss that.

We booked our trip online and found the information beforehand prompt and helpful. This place is easy to find, well signposted and with plenty of parking when you arrive. We decided on a guided tour of 2 hours for 2 adults and 3 teens. The initial welcome set the tone - friendly, helpful and determined that we should all enjoy ourselves. We took a while on the beach to set up the boats - a really good thing for an unfit novice like me - and we set off from the shore. During the trip we saw seals up close to the boat and were told lots of interesting facts about the places on the shore. We stopped off at a little beach to stretch our legs and explore a back camping ground. again really interesting and gave us time for a quick drink of water before heading back to the shore. Whether you are a novice paddler like me lacking in confidence or water loving teens this trip is exactly right. We really felt taken care of and not at all rushed.

Rushed to Pedals & Paddles around 4:15 pm on Jun 21 (Sat) to have a 2-hour kayak rental and set off at 5 pm and we were told by the female employee to come back at 6:45 pm but we were lost on our way back and we ended up somewhere near Porpoise Bay.

We were so tired, hopeless and desperate to search for the right bay. We called the 1-866-845-6440 three times for help at 7pm, 7:15pm and 7:45pm and tried to make it back but the instructions given from Charlene were misleading. Eventually, we were told by the phone from Charlene at 8 pm to land at Porpoise Bay and waited for her to pick us up after we found out where we were from the two men on a boat nearby. She arrived at 8:30pm.

We were exhausted. Undoubtedly, we were grateful to see her after we were through with such a mishap. However, we were shocked to ask to pay $80 for such a ride back to Sechelt due to the fact that we had never been told over the phone prior to this rescue. We ran out of any other options and ended up paying $50 in cash.

We are so glad you were anticipating a fun kayak trip in Sechelt Inlet, as is usually the case, and so sorry you ended up with an unpleasant experience. I would like to speak to your complaint that instructions given to you were misleading. Please understand, we were certainly doing our best to assist you, however the description you provided of where you were was ambiguous and could have been any number of locations. At Pedals & Paddles it is our goal to make sure everyone has a positive and safe adventure, including yours.
We came to your rescue immediately, drove you back to your car, brought the kayaks and gear back , and asked for a nominal fee for the expense and extra hours 2 employees had to work. Knowing you had signed our waiver, which advises rescue costs are charged to the renter, I did not anticipate that this information needed repeating. Would you have refused the assistance knowing there was a modest charge?
The lesson here is to remember to take a moment to take stock of your surroundings. At Pedals & Paddles we are lucky to have a large identifiable beach and Island in front as a beacon for returning to the right beach. We also have a sign and several other unique landmarks. Always paddle close to shore so you can see the landmarks for returning. The maps we provide would also have helped to establish landmarks such as Islands, and should be referred to periodically. I will be sure to review your experience with all staff members so they include this important information in the pre-trip talk that all customers receive.

On a girls' weekend, we went for a two hour paddle. Eugenie very kindly came into work on a Sunday - what a tremendous young lady!
We saw seals playing in the bay ... Super cool!!
Also lots of birds, sea stars.
Would highly recommend Pedals and Paddles - Eugenie took such great care of us. We will definitely come back!

A the end of the road on the east side of Porpoise Bay Norma and I boarded one of Laurie's double kayaks. In a small convoy headed by Dave we headed out along the shoreline. We passed over shallow channels filled with starfish, mussels and oysters. About an hour into the paddle we beached at a provincial park campsite. Ambitious campers with bedrolls and grub for a day or two could enjoy a wilderness experience in this well maintained camp. The trip back was into the wind so it was with great relief when we returned to Laurie's beach. Her supplied hot dogs and hot coffee were a wonderful treat. Part of the experience was the thorough advice issued by Laurie, her son and Dave. Give Laurie a call.
