“Ski trip”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

Perfect for a family. Quiet, close, good food, SAFE.!!.
Simply walk outside, step into your skis and away you go, ya, that close.
The village of sun peaks is so quaint, a must see and stay place.
The locals are very friendly.

Room Tip: All rooms are very good

Stayed during August at the Lodge. Hotel is in a great location, staff are very friendly. Be aware that during the summer months things are very quiet at Sun Peaks. The room was fine, however, having no Air-conditioning, made the room a veritable inferno. No amount of fans in the room made much difference.

We picked this for an overnight stop as it was off the beaten path and the pics looked beautiful. Our first room was real cute and the kids were excited until we folded out the sofa bed and found a huge clump of hair on the sheets.

As the cleaning staff were gone for the day, they moved us to a second room, that had a dirty countertop and it wasn't the room we were to receive, so we moved once again.

The last room had a private bedroom and was much cleaner, but as we were taking the sofa bed apart, my daughter found a crumpled up used tissue in the couch. By this time we were too tired to complain as we had just driven from Parksville.

We have never asked to be moved before in 20 years of staying in hotels. The lodge itself is nice, the staff are nice but the rooms were not clean. I don't be staying here again.

I stayed at the Hearthstone lodge in February 2013 while visiting my boyfriend who was out there for a Ski instructor course for three months. Luckily enough I was able to stay in the same hotel as him.
This is probably one of the best hotel I have ever stayed in. It's nothing too luxurious but its simplicity and kindness of people made it perfect. The staff was lovely, the room was terrific in a very good way. Kitchen corner, spacious room With sofa, huge bed and a fireplace which was the end of the world, not to mention the top: the big balcony that was facing Mt Morresey ( I hope I spelt it right). Such an amazing view. They also had a small gym and two hot tubs which I just fell in love with, outside under the snow. They have a room to keep your ski equipment locked as well. A bit small but it does the job.
The beauty of it is the fact that you can ski in and ski out directly into the slopes.
There was no breakfast room it we used to buy food from the shop and cook it in the small kitchenette or go to the bar just in front of our building which was fantastic.
If you want an unforgettable holiday, please go go go!
I can't wait to return one day.

Location and cleanliness were just right for our music weekend. Well equiped kitchen in room. A pull down bed that was comfortable and our room (316) overlooked the clocktower square with music to enjoy. There was a free concert weekend so most hotels would only book 2 night stays. Bear Country is the name of the new management team and they are maintaining this excellent hotel in the centre of Sun Peaks..... BONUS we saw a bear from the chairlift as we headed up hiking on the alpine. very satisfied!

Room Tip: might be quieter on the Mt Morrisey side of the building.

Stayed here for two nights. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Room was clean and spacious and having a small kitchen within the room was very useful. The lack of air-conditioning made the room very warm but, on asking at reception, was quickly supplied with a fan. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is well located near to shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again although it would have to be "in season" when there were more things to do in Sun Peaks and more shops open.

This was our second time to Sun Peaks and our first time staying at the Hearthstone. We took advantage of a stay 3 nights, pay for 2 deal as part of the free Blue Rodeo concert weekend. Check in was a breeze on our arrival and our room (Studio King) was just outside the elevator. The unit was spacious and clean and we really liked the full sized fridge along with the rest of the fully stocked kitchen so one could cook all their own meals without having to bring anything but their own food. If any complaint and I use the word loosely, it would be that the unit has no AC or at least a window that opens more than a crack to allow more air circulation as the nights are more than cool enough if the air could get in. But that said I realize this is a Ski Resort first with summer activities a distant second. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows, including the extras we had requested at the time of the reservation were nice and soft as well. It is also close to the concert area so you don't have to carry your chairs and coolers far. I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.
