“Fun at the Sun Peaks Lodge.”
Reviewed 7 March 2014 via mobile

We have just stayed 3nights at Sun Peaks lodge. Overall it is very comfortable and in a great location, in village close to all this lovely village has to offer. Staff were good. Yes you do have to pay $10 a day for parking but very convenient. The rooms are very traditional and a bit dark, but with good beds. Also a bath for après ski is great. You can get a microwave which is great. Most rooms have a small window with little view, not the full length window as advertised in the picture..this must be a balcony room perhaps. Housekeeping is great. We got a 3 for the price of 2 special which was great. No comment on restaurants. Please use Jardines rentals rather than McSporties for so many reasons!
All in all comfortable , reasonable lodge in a great village.

Hello.

Recently stayed there for 2 nights for a ski vacation. The hotel and room's were fine, if a bit dated. The location is the best party, right in the lower village.

Some off putting points was the $10 parking charge per night. The Hot Tub couldn't manage to get hotter than about lukewarm at best. One of the worst parts was finding someone else's sock in my bed to which I brought to the front desk's attention and simply tried to get a discount. They charged me $30 extra per night for having my well behaved dog (shame on me for not reading small print). Mario the manager was relentless, he got very excited when I brought this to his attention and started putting words in my mouth. He simply would not concede, denying my accusations, calling me a liar and quoting me on things I never said. Mario seriously needs to be sent back to Customer Service 101.

Won't ever be staying there again.

Liked the hotel. Room was a decent size, beds comfortable, great location right in the village centre and staff mostly helpful and accommodating. Mario (I think) assited us with a table at the restaurant the first night we arrived, it was busy and we hadn't booked. He also assisted us with checking on road conditions on the day we were leaving.
When we arrived we were advised that the underground parking was full, therefore no access to the elevator at that level and had to negotiate an external staircase will all our luggage and skis etc. The young man on reception only offered to assist 'if we really needed it'. The hairdryer in the room needs to be more powerful and the heating system needs attention. It was very noisy and disturbed our last couple of nights there, Management were aware of the problem and were attempting to sort out.
Overall a good hotel in a good location and we would return.

This is a small hotel with a heated underground parking lot. The rooms were bigger than average, the bed was good but the pillows were small. The service was excellent. I booked a non refundable rate but they allowed me to change dates because I gave them advance cancellation notice and they were able to resell the room. The location is in a picturesque alpine village with a heated public outdoor pool and ice rink nearby. Easy access to ski lifts. What makes this package so desirable is the price for the room! Very good. The mountain itself is very good. I have skied all over Colorodo, Idaho, Montana, and lived at Whistler so can judge ski resorts. I would say this mountain is particularly attractive to the older skier due to its high grooming standards. As always, check the weather as it can get cold at Sun Peaks.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights on the New Years. Room was nice but what really stuck out were the staff in the hotel and the restaurant. They all were so friendly and helpful! From helping with an early arrival to late breakfast requests. Will be back!

Spent three nights here during peak ski season in January, with our two young children. Sun Peaks Lodge is well situated in the centre of the pedestrian village, clean, tidy, and efficiently run by a family that is obviously well-versed in hospitality. With that said, it's not a luxury property, so expect a basic but very comfortable and convenient place to crash.

Rooms are a decent size, but lack air conditioning or good heating controls, so it might be a bit challenging to keep a constant, comfortable temperature in either winter or summer. The beds were just average. On the street side, the hotel overlooks the main road through Sun Peaks, so expect some early morning noise in winter due to snow clearing activities. Everything else about our room was fine, and the property is well maintained and spotlessly clean.

There is a small hot tub and spa area in the "basement" of the hotel which is a little small, dark, and uninviting, but otherwise serves its purpose. We did not eat dinner at the steakhouse, but the breakfast buffet was decent, and well priced for a hotel restaurant. There is very limited onsite parking, so expect to leave your car at the day lots which are a 5 minute walk away.

At the discount we received (three nights for the price of two), we were happy here and would return, although I doubt that I would pay rack rate.

Room Tip: There might be some early morning noise from snow clearing on the street side of the hotel.

If your expecting 5 star accommodation then this is not the place for you. That being said the rooms are clean and tidy and the service and friendliness of the staff is great.

The only negative comment I have is about the coffee machine and cups. There is plenty of room for these in the main room but for some reason they have put them in the bathroom next to the toilet - I don't get this - it's super unhygienic and just plain odd.

Other than that the room was nice and the staff were very friendly :)
