“Great accommodation in an isolated spot”
Reviewed 30 August 2014

Stay - 22/8/14 - 25/8/14
Positives - we arrived with the aim of whale watching - the view from the dockside apartments was stunning, across the harbour - the staff were helpful - great location for our trip to Port McNeil. If you are into fishing this is the place to be. The cove is full is historic charm and the bear sighting right in the cove was an unexpected treat.
Cons - if you don't want to use the dining facilities in the cove make sure you stock up on supplies prior to arriving. The area around the accommodation could benefit from some nice walks to soak up the long sunny days.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We know it can be awkward getting groceries out here, it is the price we pay for being so far out of town. However, being so far out of town is part of what makes Telegraph Cove so beautiful.

We hope you have a great day, and thank you for your comments.

Telegraph Cove Marina and RV Park offers the only "hotel" in Telegraph Cove. We always stay at this hotel as we love being right in Telegraph Cove. The rooms are simple and clean. Our room had a king bed, table & chairs, sofa, tv, refrigerator, microwave, stove with oven, plates, pots pans, cutlery etc. The bathroom is spacious and offers good shelving for personal items.

All rooms offer a "marina" view. Lots of parking and easy access to the boat launch. You can watch the fishing boats come and go and check out their catch of the day or you can book a fishing charter that will pick you up in the cove. We personally have gone fishing with Randy's Fishing Charters (The Fishmaster) from Sointula and had a great time!

There is wildlife to watch right from the dock - blue heron's, sea otters, eagles, and once in a while bears. There is a viewing platform at the cove and trail that leads up through the residential area and then up to the RV park.

A bear watching tour Riptide Grizzly Tours and Stubbs Whale Watching both leave right from Telegraph Cove. If you prefer to drive around and explore there are some nice logging roads to roam around on and 4x4 just for fun. Port McNeil -for shopping, more restaurants, and ferry to Sointula or Alert Bay - is about a 10 minute drive, Port Alice - for more fishing - about 1 hour 15 minutes and Port Hardy - for the northern tip ocean views, local artisan gallery, fishing and beaches - about an hour -- if you like to explore the surrounding communities.

Telegraph Cove is beautiful and worth staying right in the cove if there is room available - booking in advance for July and August is recommended.

We stayed two nights in Telegraph Cove: one at the resort and one at Dockside 29 Hotel. While the resort was charming, I far favoured the hotel. The view was spectacular, and the rooms excellent and spacious. It was an excellent room to relax in after our Tide Rip grizzly tour (which was amazing). We ate breakfast outside at the Seahorse Cafe, which was really tasty. An excellent stay and we would definitely book here again next time we visit.

We were a large group, and booked one of the cottages for one night. The cottages are all historic, and have their history displayed on a plaque outside each front door. The interior was clean, well-furnished (although the couches were totally sunken in), and the beds comfortable. We hadn't brought any food with us, however there are numerous eating establishments on the premises. We had a wonderful time, the setting was beautiful, and we witnessed a stunning sunset. Overall a memorable experience, and I'll definitely try my utmost to make the long journey back here at some stage.

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay in Telegraph Cove. However, as much as we here at Telegraph Cove Marina and RV Park wish that you were saying this about our hotel, the cottages are rented out by Telegraph Cove Resort, which is a separate business to us.

We hope you have a great day, and that you will visit us too at some time.

This is the first time being at telegraph cove. It is a beautiful place. The hosts at the rv park are very nice people. Loved the fish and a visit with them and there friends. The rv park is clean and nice the only problem was the smell from the sewer treatment plant just outside of the washrooms. We had to leave early for the smell was making us feel ill. We would go back there if they could fix the smell problems.

Thank you for your lovely comments. We have been working hard to improve the sewer system, and have plans to upgrade it before next RV season. We hope that, should you be in the area in the future, you would give us a return visit.

Thanks and have a great day.

We stayed in one of the units in Dockside 29 for two nights in June 2014.

The unit (or room) had two queen sized beds, a dinning table and a fully equipped kitchen (cooker, fridge freezer etc). We had an upper floor room with awesome views across the cove.

We stayed here as we planned to go out to Knight Inlet on a day trip with Tide Rip (which was awesome). The two night stay allowed us to have a relaxing evening the night before and just stroll the couple of minutes walk across from our room to Tide Rip the next morning.

Wish we had stayed an additional night as there's lots of wildlife to be seen around the Cove, including black bears and otters, both of which we saw from our room window!

We ate at Seahorse Cafe and Killer Whale Restaurant, both were really good!

The only negative was the Wi-Fi which there is a charge for and a limit on the amount of data you can up/download... fortunately the payment system wasn't working during our visit so we had free access, but it was really slow!
