I travel often, and this was probably the worst hotel I've stayed at in the last 5 years. But I'm easily pleased, and most hotels have their acts together, so that's not to say this was terrible. But it was below average for this price point.
Here are some areas they could improve:
-attire was unprofessional (The woman at the front desk was wearing leggings as pants--is there no dress code?)
-staff were unfriendly (I mean, they came across as rude, but this is probably due to disinterest in their job and poor training, not actual impudence.)
-chlorine was way too strong (I'm normally just fine with chlorinated pools, but this one was so strong my eyes stung, and I didn't even put my head underwater--normally I swim underwater with my eyes open with no problems.)
-there was cereal on the floor
-had to call the front desk for the internet password (Would be nice to include that at check-in, or on the desk.)
-window was cracked down the entire length, and taped with packing tape
-there was no butter at breakfast, just margarine
-the yoghurt and cream cheese were at room temperature
-muffin selection was limited to bran
-there was no ingredients list on the yogurt (I'm trying to avoid aspartame.)
It was a safe hotel, but nothing special, and they could improve the basics. A family with kids would probably enjoy the waterside. Not really recommended, however, for vacationing. Make the trip to Winnipeg, you'll have a lot more fun.
