We booked Seaglass Cottage in St.Martins, NB, Canada to attend the village Old Home Week. We wanted to spend time with friends and look for old acquaintances.
The cottage itself is set in a very peaceful environment, and on a quiet lane. The wraparound deck was wonderful for morning coffee, but the small deck off one of the bedrooms,on the first floor, was heaven...secluded from passing cars and neighbours. A wonderful place to share a late night glass of wine or an early morning coffee in your PJ’s.
On arrival, the house was clean and comfortable. After a family tragedy..it was the perfect place to relax and seek solitude.
If you are asthmatic ...you will find mostly hardwood floors in the cottage. The plus for us was two things:
1). That our Schnauzer was made welcome to this cottage, and
2) the owners were very approachable, and willing to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible...a plus when renting for a week, or month stay.
We loved all the special touches to make this cottage as welcoming as possible and have a homey feel. The added touch of being able to wash your clothes, in the full size washer and dryer, was fantastic! This cottage is setup so two families could go together, but each have their own floor for privacy and space.
The people around were friendly....and if you were seeking homemade sausage and corn beef....the little grocery store on the Main Street was the place to go. And never leave without sampling real haddock fish and chips ...massive pieces...at the Caves Restaurant in the beach.
Whether you want beach time in an ocean, or hiking on the Fundy Trail, or rest and solitude, this cottage is placed perfectly for all.
We would like to stay again..perhaps in Autumn when the leaves are turning on the Fundy Trail.
We stayed here for three weeks and loved every minute of it.
The house is beautiful and has everything you could possibly need. Very comfortable beds and sofa which were ideal for lounging around and the place has a really hospitable homely feeling.
It's evident that it's been completely refurbished to high end speck with a lot of love, care and attention.
Large windows and patio doors allow for a lot of natural light and great views of the surroundings and wild life.
I loved having a cup of coffee and chilling on the veranda first thing in the morning, breathing in the fresh air and watching the birds. To be honest I didn't want to leave!!
Definitely value for your money, I'm sure the owner will put the price up once the bookings start rolling in!!
The local town is just a short walk away with a few shops a stunning old lighthouse and some restaurants.
The town has been looked after impeccably and its well worth a good look at the stunning coast line and old beautiful buildings. The people of st Martins are some of the friendliest people Iv ever come across when traveling and we made some new friends.
I really recommend doing the Fundy trail to get closer to nature, just allow yourself a lot of time as it's massive!
We also took a drive into America across the border which was great fun and only took a few hours including stopping at one of the amazing truck stop cafes for breakfast.
Can't wait to go back!!
