“Great room, breakfast and views”
Reviewed 8 August 2014 via mobile

As others have said the rooms in this lovely B and B are great. We had the eagles nest at the top which was well equipped and comfortable. We very much enjoyed the common room and deck at the top of the stairs which had great views. The food both for the evening meal and breakfast was well above that which is usually available at B and B. Highly recommended.

We only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer. Dinner was very good and so was the cheesecake. Barb and Mike are terrific people. They told us all about the history of the house and area of Saint Martins NB. We wandered down to the beach as the tide was out and it was so great. I just wish we had another day to enjoy the area. We stayed in the Eagle's Nest room which was clean and comfortable with a beautiful breeze coming in the big window. Breakfast in the morning is your choice of anything off the menu. you cant go wrong.

Room Tip: Eagle Nest is where we stayed. Nice breeze comes in and its quiet. Its on the third floor but its re...

Thank you for a wonderful overnight accommodation and of course breakfast. We were late booking yet able to get a room -the accommodations are just what we look for-clean, simple and comfortable-like home- able to come and go as we pleased and good safe parking for us with kayaks and bikes-lots of room to manoeuvre. Lovely hosts and yummy meals

Room Tip: I think most rooms are probably very nice-there would be difficulty on the top floor if mobility wa...

We were recommended the Salmon River by the server from a restaurant just up the road. this place is unassuming from the road, The proprietors have really worked hard at updating rooms, bathrooms in all the rooms. The room includes a tremendous breakfast, also local restaurant so they are not just cooking for guests but for the locals, the Mikes burrito is overflowing the large plate it is on, and you better be hungry. Two minute walk to the water. Gas and post office two minute drive. This is a sleepy little town and what a great find. We had no reservations but were ther in mid June , after July 4th may be more in season, would call and reserve. We were traveling by motorcycle- 4 of us -

Room Tip: All rooms were great. Upstairs and downstairs available

The Salmon River B & B in St. Martin NB is a delightful B & B. The food is outstanding and many of the locals drop by for lunch or dinner. The rooms are exceptionally clean and beautifully turned out with an eye for comfort and decor. The owners are very nice and I hope my travels will bring me to their B&B again soon.

Room Tip: I was on the main floor and was very comfortable.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in the shoulder season (just as they were opening for the summer), and couldn't have been more pleased.

The room itself is the size I would expect for a B&B, with a much larger bathroom than I would normally expect (at least double that of a normal hotel room).

While it looked sort of small and unassuming on the outside, Salmon River B&B turned out to be an excellent, modern facility on the inside, with a surprising amount of space and very comfortable rooms. The whole place is immaculate, and Mike and Barb are consummate hosts.

They are also excellent cooks, and the restaurant could stand on it's own. They provide a much wider selection of breakfasts than most other B&Bs. For dinner, my wife had scallops and I had one of the salmon dishes, and we were both incredibly pleased (the Death By Chocolate wasn't a bad desert either). In addition, they have a liquor license, and serve a decent selection. The porter I had went excellent with the salmon, personally, but that might not be everyone's "cup of tea," and you have plenty of pairings to choose from. Originally a Denver native, Mark also cooks up a variety of southwest-style dishes in addition to the fresh seafood, chicken and steak one might expect. And, at the end of the night, Mark came out and talked with all the patrons in the restaurant, which was a delight in itself.

Mark is a former Denver PD officer who retired to St. Martins with his wife, and they are full of interesting stories and fun conversation. They also have made really excellent choices in their staff, and we just had a really fun time during our interactions with all of them.

Also, though not a native, after about a decade in the area, Mark was very familiar with all the sights to see, and gave us some tips on vantage points to check out that we did not find elsewhere.

I don't know if this is due to Canadian regulations or just personal choice on their part, but it's also worth noting the facilities have a completely modern fire system, with fire doors and everything, something beyond what I am used to seeing in a B&B in the states. In reality, it is more like a modern-yet-quaint hotel in regard to the comfort and amenities provided than the simple, refurbished home that defines many other B&Bs.

On the third floor, there is also a common room set out in the manner of a very nice family room with a table and chairs in the center for work or games, and a balcony off the common room with a great view of the adjacent harbor, including a clear view of the sea caves.

Especially as the Fundy Trail continues to expand along the coast and eventually connect to even more destinations, Salmon River B&B makes an excellent "base of operations" for exploring this area of the North American eastern seaboard. I could honestly not recommend it enough.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor, and thus in one of the smaller rooms. If you want a little more roomy fe...

Inn keepers made us feel like family the moment we checked in. The king bedroom was small but since we don't spend much time there, it was fine for sleeping. The restaurant was delicious, several items to choose for dinner and breakfast. I ordered the small breakfast burrito and it was to die for!! Nice short walk to the beach.
