“Below average, disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

Stayed here one night in one of the fancier rooms and was disappointed with overall experience. Many things were broken or did not work, such as bathroom door, lamp, power outlet, window, window blind, patio door blind and internet. The breakfast was a bit small compared to many other places. The kids working there were kind enough but there wasn't a real welcoming presence.

After reading rave reviews about this place, we decided to stay at this b&b during our trip to NB this late July. The house looks gorgeous, with the pond, the manicured lot and flowers. When we came by the house, and I went in to see if a room was available for us, no one had answered. Only after a few tries a lady picked from the kitchen. She did not know if a room was available, and said that someone took the book... after 10 minutes or so she and the girl that was helping her (very young girl, may be her grand daughter), finally figured out there is a room available. They took me up to the room (room #7 with a patio overlooking the water). After short while it was clear to us that the house was completely empty, and no guests had checked in before us. I don't understand why it was so difficult to figure out they had a room for us...
The room was small but cute, with queen size bed and a closet and a mini aged tv, which we did not mind as we don't watch tv anyway. The room itself was pretty clean, but the bathroom could have been cleaner. The tiles looked like no one had wiped them in a while.
The bed was pretty comfy, and the breakfast was good.
The house is a huge, beautiful victorian home, with tons of character. The staff was not friendly at all, and did not seem to know much about the attractions nearby, or any information about the house itself, which is too bad.
The owners lock the doors at 9pm, which we found very inconvenient. We had to go and buzz them (they live in a separate house near by) if we went out and wanted someone to open the door for us, so we did not bother.

We were looking for a place to stay after hiking some trails on an adventure. It looks great from the outside with geese outside by the pond and beautiful gardens, but went to the front desk earlier in the day before our hike. No One around after hollering for someone? Came back after our hike and one teenager showed us what rooms and knew very little about the place. We stayed in Room #1 and the tv was was tiny. Could have been a little cleaner by vacuuming up the dead flies on the edges of the floor.. Then a small roach (yes cockroach) crawled along the carpet and we were very shocked and creeped out. I slept very eerily over the night.

The next morning we had breakfast in the dining room and the young dishwasher was put to serve us. He was very trying at learning the job. However it wasn't fair to put this young lad do do a totally new job for him. He was very nice. The dining room could have been a bit cleaner and tidier. (Screws and crumpled up placemats in the fireplace) Dead flies along the floor and also there were dead moths in the curtains when we tried to shade the sun.

There is no substitute for the full menu when included with the overnight stay. I would have been happy to pay $2 more for the eggs benedict. Wasn't a bit accommodating to the idea.

Suggestions to make the place a little warmer by cleaning up the floors and updating some of the furniture (creaking chairs, bed frames creaking, bathroom upgrades)

Room Tip: Stay at Salmon River B & B

My husband and I were there for a weekend in St Martins. We arrived Saturday. We got the best room..#2 waterfront. Just beautiful!!! Best filet mignon even. The only think my husband didn t like is no hot water in the bedroom while the dishwasher is running downstairs!. I found that very funny!!

This B&B was a charming place to stay in a very small community, St. Martins, which, however, is the jumping off spot for the road to the Fundy Trail. The location was perfect and the Trail itself was the highlight, absolutely and without question, of all of New Brunswick. The vistas, trails, lookouts, etc., are done so well, you could spend days. The Country Inn was great, beautiful grounds, and we stayed in the annex building on the second floor with a balcony and direct view to the Bay and the grounds. Enjoyed a bottle of wine watching toward dusk and sunset and then had a nice dinner in the dining room served by Michelle and a nice breakfast in the AM. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a room with balcony overlooking the Bay.

My husband and I just returned from this country inn and it's 3 night pkg.
The Inn was clean, comfortable and great views of the Bay of Fundy. The food was amazing. The owner was very nice, informative and helpful. The package deal was a great way to experience the Bay of Fundy from the Fundy pkwy trail, hike to Hearst cabin and kayaking the bay.
Highly recommend this get away!

Sept
Our drivers, Brenda and Bud, recommended this cozy Victorian B&B for a special lunch for our group of 12. We arrived late but called ahead (we didn't stay overnight). Though we were the only patrons, I consider this a blessing as we had the run of the house, and Michelle, the owner, was able to show us around the inn. She with help from Kim and Linda created a customized lunch of 3 superb courses--homemade fluffy biscuits, tuna or egg salad sandwiches, seafood chowder (best ever!), and to-die-for apple crisp, followed by coffee or tea. All this for an amazing $12 Cdn pp.
The dining room offered a wondrous view of the bay.
We knew we were treated special and this lunch made for another memorable story.
