We recently returned from a delightful 3 night stay at Harbourview B&B. Terry and Colleen have spent the last year tastefully renovating this 162 year old family home with a breathtaking view overlooking the Bonavista harbour. The updates include private baths in each of the 4 spacious and immaculate rooms and new tasteful furnishings throughout that still maintain the charm of this home. Albert and Florence, Colleen's parents, have lovingly run this B&B for 16 years and although now retired and living next door, they still maintain a welcome hand in the operation. Florence provides the delicious home made bread and jams that are served for breakfast along with sharing the baking of the evening dessert "lunch" with Colleen, ( both are talented bakers!). Albert is the berry picker in the family and while we were there he was busy picking bake apples for Florence to make jam. Albert joined us for our evening "lunch" and entertained us with his stories and antics. After a busy day of touring the area, viewing puffins, whales and icebergs, returning to Harbourview to sit out on the deck and watch the sunset over the harbour was a perfect end to the day. But wait, there is more, around 9:30pm, guests are invited to sit around the dining room table to share their stories and partake in an amazing "lunch", a large platter of fresh crab and a homemade dessert and tea. Colleen and Terry's warmth and hospitality are what truly make this experience special. They go above and beyond to make sure their guests are comfortable and happy. When they learned that we were celebrating our anniversary, a complimentary bottle of wine was delivered to our room! This is one hard working family who know how to give their guests a true warm Newfoundland experience!

Enchanting, 160 year old house with four rooms available, extremely gracious hosts are in the process of gently renovating an already impressive home, 4 poster bed, claw bathtub, evening snack inviting guests to wonderful interchange of ideas. In addition, it was very reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Quick, make a reservation. We loved it!

I don't know why you would even look at staying anywhere else while in the Bonavista area. Such a comfortable homey location can't be found elsewhere. Queen bed was unbelievably comfortable and the deep claw foot bathtub only made the stay that much better. Highlight of our two night stay was definitely the evening lunch. Shrimp, crab legs and all homemade desserts tasted amazing. It was also a nice opportunity to meet the other people who were staying there and to hear some of their stories for travelling to the area. Breakfast couldn't be beat with ham, bacon, sausage, balogna, eggs, toutons, homemade bread and 4 different kinds of homemade jam. Terry, Colleen, Albert and Flossie are the perfect hosts. They really make you feel at home. It was hard to leave! We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: If you want the deep claw foot tub ask for one of the rooms on the back. While the tourism guide sa...

I recently toured Eastern Newfoundland with my Mum, and we stayed at Harbourview while in Bonavista, and it was the single best B&B experience we've ever had! Terry and Colleen and her parents were very welcoming, making us feel immediately comfortable and treated us more like long-time friends than guests. The rooms are all newly renovated, and I'm not sure who has the decorators eye, Terry or Colleen, but the style and design choices are impeccable. They thought of everything, from the super-comfortable mattresses, to the cloud-nine pillows, to the baby-soft bath towels, and the little touches too, like the black-out curtains... brilliant! The new deck on the front has a great view of the harbour, and super-cushy deck chairs make this a great spot to hang out and reflect on the days adventures. As if we weren't comfortable enough, the "late lunch" provided at 9:30pm sends this B&B over the top, with a heaping plate of snow crab, cracked and prepped by Terry, followed by a blueberry pastry and tea... I can't recall a better bedtime snack! Not done yet! Breakfast... what can I say? Bacon, back bacon, turkey bacon, ham, bologna, eggs any way you like them, toast from homemade bread, smothered in butter and fresh, home-made blueberry, raspberry, partridgeberry and bakeapple berry jams! The traditional toutons and molly was a wonderful treat too, and I very nearly had to roll back to bed to digest before checking out! Next time I tour Newfoundland I will be staying at Harbourview longer than one night... had I only known!

All of the positive reviews that you've read about this place are completely true! This was the absolutely best stay that my partner and I experienced in our two-week, 3000 km tour of Newfoundland -- if we had found it earlier, we probably would have travelled less and remained at Harbourview longer. I'd say that Colleen, Terry, and Colleen's parents deserve five stars for the accommodations, another five stars for their wonderful and generous cuisine, and a further five stars for their amazing hospitality and conviviality. Newfoundland and its people are very special, but our stay here was an important highlight. (I hesitate to write this review, because I'm sure that it will soon be next to impossible to get a future booking -- thanks, in part, to all of these positive ratings!) Thank-you, Colleen, Terry, Albert, and Florence!
