We were new to the B&B scene when we started our holiday. By the time we got to this one we appreciated how excellent it was, although it is set up like a lodge. Food was amazing. Scenery was amazing.

My wife and I stayed for two nights in a spacious room and enjoyed two great evening meals, taken at the communal table in the cavernous dining room. Much better than a table for two. Barb Genge and her crew are great. What a pleasure it was to stay at the inn. We had the best whale watching tour of any we have ever made (about 9-10).

It is located in the middle of nowhere by a lake in the middle of a forest. The location is very beautiful. The lodge bulding is very well decorated with mounted trophies on the wall and a comfortable sitting room.

The food was well made, and should be for the nearest restaurant has to be at least 50 km away. We had dinner there one night and the food was delicious with a choice of several desserts. There was essentially no choice for the main course. Dining is communal, but everyone there was friendly and nice. For dinner the next day we were debating about going to a highly recommended restaurant in St. Anthony's or eating at the lodge, as the selection for that night did not appeal to us. They did offer to make an alternative.

The biggest problem for us was hearing our neighbors. They had booked a group of young folks in the room above us. You could hear every word and even see light thru the floor boards from the room above. Not only that you could hear when they used the toilet. I am a light sleeper so I was not happy. They were booked up, so there were no other rooms.

I really wanted to give this place more stars as the employees were the nicest people and very accommodating.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Tuckamore Lodge while touring the St Anthony and L'Anse Aux Meadows areas. We thought a hunting and fishing lodge might be an interesting change from the B&B circuit. The lodge is about an hour drive from the L'Anse and fairly remote from everything else so be aware that you'll need to drive to see any sights. There isn't a lot to do in August around the lodge other than hiring a fishing guide. Our room was one of 2 rooms on the second floor with a queen size bed and a window with no view, just looking out over the roof of the lower building. The room is nicely decorated and comfortable with a queen size bed and breakfast included but it is open above the doorway to the rest of the lodge which means that morning noise and cooking odors from the kitchen and dining areas come up to your room. By the end of our stay, our clothes smelled like bacon. The rooms on the first floor wouldn't have that problem. The only other room problem we encountered was that internet service was only working for about half the time we were there, if that's important to you.
The lodge is a beatiful log structure on the lake.We met some very nice interesting people at breakfast at the lodge but had only minimal interaction with the owner and staff, so we got most of our travel info from other travellers. They all raved about dinner at the lodge so we let the cook know in the morning when she asked if we'd be back for dinner. Be aware that if all meals aren't included in your rate, there are charges for any additional meals or if you want coffee/tea in the evenings. We were a bit disappointed to be charged $35/each for just salad and spaghetti for dinner after all the great comments. In retrospect, we could have had a great seafood meal in St Anthony at the Northern Delight or Lighthouse for that much money. That was our only disappointment with the lodge. I think it would be a great place to stay if you got an all inclusive hunting or fishing package rather than trying to use it as a base to explore the Northern Peninsula like us.

What an amazing place. Peaceful relaxing and unbelievable. I can't say enough good about this beautiful lodge. For the fisherman and hunter it is paradise. They will aranger evrything from fishing license to guides, hunting licenses and tags to guides, pack lunch baskets for the all day fishing or hunting anyway you want it. And the meals were something to behold I'll tell ya. This is a definite must for anyone travelling to the area even if its to just relax and put a couple of beer in the lake until they are required for relaxtion. I would even go so far to say they may even pick you up at St. Anthony airport but you would have to verify this for sure. What an amazing place and a must do.

Room Tip: Choose the loft apartment (not sure of the actual name) but it faces the lake and has 2 comfortable...

Just does not get any better than this... the ocean, ice burgs, salmon fishing, great food all with peace and quite in luxury. This was our forth trip to Tuckamore, this time we took our Son, daughter-in-law and their six month old baby... Priceless.

Our first fly fishing trip booked from England was at this wonderful place. The lodge beside an attractive lake had exceptional views and our bedroom was well-furnished with a good ensuite bathroom. The food was plentiful and well-prepared but too much carbohydrate for our English tastes. The dining and sitting rooms were very pleasant places to spend our time. Barb made us very welcome and it felt like we were staying with friends. Her team was first class. Peggy looked after our food, adjusting the quantities to our tastes. Randy drove us to the Viking Settlement, to Dr Grenfell's house and to the airport. Brendan was an excellent fly fishing instructor and very good company. We travelled with him by a little tin boat each day to where we fished in spectacular locations. He took us to his own settlement, where we saw their own Bayeux style tapestry. It was a real tonic to be in this beautiful place and we will return. The only downside was that we did not catch a salmon! Perhaps next time?
