This hotel is definitely a 'no frills' hotel, and is in dire need of an upgrade. It is well dated. However, as a stopover to catch the Marine Atlantic Ferry to Nova Scotia, it is the best buy in town as a hotel.
The staff there are superb, and their breakfast is very good. The staff will do their very best to help you in any way, The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The dining room has not changed for many years, for we have stayed before and therefore quite familiar with the decor.
If you have to lay over in Port aux Basques, then we recommend it for a night. The price is a little high for the condition of the building overall, but it is comfortable and clean, and the staff and the food is quite good.
