I stayed at Abba Inn in St. John's and they recommended the Eriksen Premises for excellent value. It was indeed. The staff were lovely. Trinity is a beautiful little place and I am so glad I went there. I also went up to Bonavista and stayed at The Bird Island Inn. Perfect location also. I stopped in Dildo on the way back home and stayed at the Inn On The Bay. It was picture postcard perfect also. What an excellent holiday I had.

We stayed at the Eriksen Premises for 2 nights in 8/06. Trinity was lovely, and Eriksen's is a nice location for walking around. Our room was basic, but very spacious and clean. There was a large sitting room off our room available to guests. The tea/dining room was cozy and pleasant. We had lunch there and enjoyed the lunch very much, in fact best lunch we had in Newfoundland (a salad!!). However, breakfast left much to be desired. It was self serve, set out on the counter tops of their gift shoppe. Breakfast food was fair, not particularly appetizing or hot. The experience at this B&B would be much better if they served the breakfast individually at your table. Also stayed at affiliated B&B in Carbonear (Sophia's). Sophia's was the best B&B and best breakfast of any place we stayed Newfoundland.

We arrived in Trinity the third week of June. We hadn't booked ahead, unfortunately, although we did everywhere else on on our wonderful two-week trip to Newfoundland. Found that there were slim pickings for accommodations (wish we been smart enough to book Campbell House instead!) After finding that several places were booked up, I went to Erikson Premises, as they are in charge of a number of B&Bs in town. The question, "Do you have any rooms for tonight" threw the two ladies behind the desk into a complete tizzy. Really, it was pretty bizarre to see how flustered they were, and I am a nice unthreatening Canadian girl! Finally after much rushing around they found a room and located the owner to take us there. That was a bit of production too, and fairly off-putting. The stress and anxiety felt like it was catching! Anyway, she took us and another party, who were also mystified by the commotion, to Kelly's Landing. It's a typical outport style house, very traditional and overlooking the harbour. However, inside the commn area was fairly dark, grubby and disorganized. Not horrifying or anything, but again off-putting. Our room was tiny, which they had told us about, but clean and nicely decorated. The mattress was very hard and uncomfortable. The owner, once she had settled down, was kind enough to tell us that the capelin were running in English Harbour nearby, so we checked that out later that evening. In the morning, we had to walk a few blocks back to the Erikson Premises for our breakfast. (This was suprising too, as Kelly's Landing has a kitchen and dining room.) It was a buffet, so we had to get plastic trays and walk back to the gift shop, where the food was spread out on the sales counter. (Losing points for ambiance, eh?) I used the toast grilling machine, which burnt my toast, as you couldn't control the setting or how long it was on the conveyor belt thingy. There wasn't any peanut butter (why is there no pb in Nfld?) but it was quickly fetched for me when I requested it. The other options were pancakes from a mix, and yucky extra-fatty cheap sausages. There were a couple of cereals and the one I chose was stale, so I politely took it back and traded it in for another one. So, all in all, it was disappointing, compared to the other fantastic places we stayed. However, the area is lovely, the theatre was well done, Skerwink Trail is a must-do and sea kayaking with Darren of Trinity Kayaking was fantastic.

The property is totally lost in the community internet promotion. It was clean, gracious, fairly priced. Staff went out of their way to be friendly and you actually felt that you were a guest in a traditional rural Newfoundland home. Allowing that it would have been quite an upscale Newfoundland. This community is certainly worth a swing through if for no other reason than to stay at the Eriksen Premises and take in a night of the theatre.
