We just experienced a three night stay at Inverary Resort to attend our best friend's wedding. A beautiful spot right on the water for the nuptials and the staff did everything in their power to ensure the bride and groom and a memorable and beautiful wedding.
The main reception area was incredible but very disappointing with all the marketing posters and ads. It really took away from the real historic beauty of the place and all the antiques. The dining room was bright and beautiful with large windows all around. The food was incredible and staff wonderful. The pub was very quaint with live music.
The grounds were OK. More focus should be put on the lawn and garden maintenance. The rentals were wonderful and a great price. The nightly campfire by the dock was the best thing...after the wedding. We'd head down later when all the kids were done with their treats to enjoy nice conversation with friends. The staff ensured there was firewood piled near by for us to keep the fire going.
The room is another story. We stayed in a cabin that is in desperate need of renovations. The front step leading up to the main door is broken which caused us to trip up the stairs several times. The front porch was so adorable but was spoiled by the rotting wicker furniture and the fact that only one window opened.....the other was screwed shut. The nice breeze that could have been let into the main cabin was blocked by large glass windows that didn't open so for us to enjoy the fresh night air we had to keep the main door wide open. The cabin could have use bigger windows for sure!!! The windows are very small and were stuck shut. In fact, my fingers were slammed in one window was I was trying to open it. Be careful!!!
The back porch was lovely and one of my favourite spots in the cabin. Nice and private and shade or sun depending on what you wanted.
The kitchen.....well it's seen better days for sure. The linoleum floor is coming up along the edges, the counter top is damaged and stained, the taps dripped, and the dishes were all chipped. The appliances worked but the fridge was dirty.
The main sitting area was nice and spacious but the run needs to be replaced. It smelt musty and felt damp on the feet. Doesn't cost much to replace with some laminate. The one chair was ripped and stained.
The bedroom was very nice except for the very small windows. The bed was very comfortable.
The bathroom....the worst part of the cabin. There was a hole in the floor in front of the toilet. The toilet kept acting up. The tub needs to be replaced or at least scoured really good. It's also VERY slippery so caution to those with kids.
It was hard to rate this one with so many black and white differences. The cabin would be a two while the event would be a five plus. I'll rate it a four because the reason we were there.....the wedding.....it was perfect!!!
