Lodging is good enough. Clean, but in need of some updating. Great staff. They have a pub & restaurant, but we didn't eat there. Short walk into Baddeck, a very tiny village, a few restaurants, local church hall where nightly celtic music is played ($10 cover) & the Alexander Graham Bell site. Very tiny town. Perfect location for starting or ending the Cabot Trail.

I stayed here two nights on a tour of Cape Breton Island. The resort setting is on the lake and beautiful. The rooms are large, clean and quiet. The tour menu was somewhat limited but you can order off the main menu as an extra. All the food is very good. There is a nice pub with entertainment in the evening. All the staff are friendly and attentive.

We enjoyed a great evening at the Thistledown pub at the inverary Inn
the food was excellent and the service was second to none. We were very impressed with the friendly staff and offerings from the pub menu... Totally recommend the prime rib burger..
They even had some local talent playing that night which made the whole experience memorable.
will definitely be back

Thank you for your review James C! Very glad you enjoyed "The Pub" as we believe it to be a great Baddeck hangout for a cold beverage, tasty food and some great tunes. It is open your round and we look forward to your next visit with us!

Have a great day

How can a place with such good food and friendly staff be such a disappointment in lodging? By having rooms where the carpet is worn and frayed, bath fixtures from the 70's, not a single piece of wall décor, furniture not even to be picked up curbside and lamps with peeling finish and stained shades...Good God.

Thank you for your review Dennis A. We thank you for your comments and you will be pleased to hear we have made improvements to many of our rooms already. We have recently added fridges to all Main Lodge Deluxe rooms, upgraded the bedding in over half of our 130 rooms (the rest is on order!) adjusting/adding decor elements as well as anxiously awaiting the arrival of some new carpeting!
I am happy to hear you enjoyed our food and service, as it is these features that attract most visitors to our area. Capers are a friendly bunch!
We look forward to seeing you again!

Best wishes,

Matt

My family and I stayed in the B&B at the resort and found the host/hostess Harry and Audrey wonderful. They treated us like family and adored /pampered my children. Chef Tim of the resort provided wonderful meals and he has a great staff. Grounds of the resort are well kept! We made great use of the kayaking rentals and enjoyed an evening of roasting smores at the camp-fire on the docks on resort. If you are looking for a relaxing/no fuss stay....The Inverary is the place!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights at the start of July. We stayed in the Culloden building which was a short walk away from the main reception. The resort is spread over several different buildings and I assume that the accommodation in each block may be slightly different. When we arrived at the room our first thought was that the room was quite old and dated, just really in need of some modernisation. However, in saying that, the dated nature if the rooms together with the location and situation of the resort didn't really detract from our experience at all. Our room was very clean and the amenities were fine. We didn't use either the swimming pool or the hot tub as it didn't look very brigand was quite busy! Would have no problem staying here again.

Thank your for your review Paul T. We appreciate your comments, and are glad you enjoyed your stay, as well as the property amenities! The local entertainment is excellent, the water sports are great and the bonfire very charming. We also hope our Scottish roots were evident to you, as we are very proud of them!
We hope you make the long trip to Cape Breton again soon!

We paid $127 for a room tax included so reasonable priced but would have gladly paid more for better. The room was so old with uncomfortable beds and it smelled bad. We found an oudour eater on a shelf which didn't help maybe made it worse, very bad room for person with allergies..The bathroom was ancient, when you sat on the toilet it moved. The tv had static (lines) through it and the kids couldn't watch it, didn't matter to us that it was the old fat tv's, just that you could see it, which you could not. We went to the pool, hot tub and I thought I might be sick as the hot tub had a dirt ring around the top of it, in need of some serious cleaning. The grounds were lovely I will give it that but we will never stay there again..

Thank you for your review Michele K. I am so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Our friendly Front Desk staff would have certainly found you a room that suited you better as we have many different types, including one that would be perfect for you.
I am glad however that you enjoyed our grounds. I am sure you took in our nightly bonfire with Inverary S'mores and enjoyed some great local entertainment in our pub as well (great for the whole family).
Thank you again for your review and we look forward to your next trip to Cape Breton.

Sincerely,

Matt
