I was lucky enough to stay in a lovely room in the 'main' lodge with a fireplace, very large comfortable bed and 6 foot tub! It was quiet and convenient to the rest of the resort. It was an upgrade from the regular rate but well worth it. The lakeside restaurant on the property is a must as the restaurants in town are sub par. Try the lobster mac and cheese! You can take a pontoon boat tour of the harbor at sunset which is spectacular and is right on property. My friends stayed in rooms that were not as nice as mine as they were booked through a tour company. They did not like their rooms, beds or bathrooms so again, upgrade to main lodge if you are going all the way to Cape Breton for a vacation. Wish I could have stayed two more days.

We took this trip on the spur of the moment. We traveled with two octogenarians (who we are blessed to have but require a little extra support when traveling.) The Inn staff were helpful and courteous of our needs. They gave us a double at the Glasgow. It was clean and fully equipped. The bathroom was well-appointed with all necessities. My parents were able to access the baths independently and easily as the room also had sensibly sized bath tubs and rails inside the tub. Another really wonderful thing about the resort is it offers a golf car shuttle to get you from one point of the resort to the next.

The staff was polite and courteous. The grounds were immaculate and lovely. The on-sight pub was fun and friendly and the lake house restaurant served very nice foods and offered amazing views. The breakfast was complementary and delicious.

Another feature that was lovely were the nightly bonfires and sing alongs and on-site boat and bike rentals. This property is a good value, excellent location and amazing views. Maybe not from your room but we weren't in Cape Breton to look out the window from inside our room. We were there to experience the landscape, the people, the food, the music and our family. This family friendly location enabled us to do it.

I am a life-long New Yorker and my standards are high. I didn't expect a NY or Boston quality room in the middle of the mountains in a family resort. I expected a clean bed, friendly staff, warm food, and natural vistas. My mother (born in Edinburgh Scotland) thought she was "home." It warmed our hearts to see her so happy. She found "a bit of the highlands here in Canada." I would stay here again and i would, without hesitation, recommend it to a friend or other family.

We stayed in the Main building (the only one to provide free wireless internet) and paid a premium for a Queen room with a fireplace. The room was enormous, with a desk/chair and two moderately comfy arm chairs, and bed with lots of pillows. Clean and pretty. Lots of electrical outlets. Convenient ice. Cons: could have easily accommodated a refrigerator and microwave and a coffeemaker that produced more than 1 dinky cup at a time -- esp. since we were paying nearly $200/nite. The large bathroom did not have towel racks, except over the shower. The view from the Main bldg is mostly street and parking lot, with a tiny glimpse of the lake, with was kind of disappointing -- but the windows do open for fresh air. The lakeside restaurant had delicious food , with a wonderful deck on Lake Bras D'Or.

A beautiful place with an air of stinginess -- free newspaper but no free coffee, no free breakfast, no assistance offered to get bags to room (no elevator). We had to go to the desk twice to beg for a second room key.

Conveniently close to downtown Baddeck and the highway.

If we go to Baddeck again, I think we'll stay someplace less pretentious, with more genuine amenities to stretch our dollar further. We didn't really make use of the expensive spa or other resort-y features.
