“Large rooms, nice restaurant”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We had four people in our room and had lots of space. There were two beds, as well as a couch and desk.

The bathroom is small, but sink area is separate from the rest.

The breakfast option included with the room is limited but can be upgraded for a fee. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, but it was good and the staff were very accommodating to our orders.

We enjoyed our wonderful meal with a view of the lake and great service by Elaine. We suggest that you eat at least one meal with them during your stay in Baddeck. The atmosphere is very comfortable and a little romantic.

The location is ideal, just at the start of the Cabot Trail. I had called earlier in the day to inquire about room availability and when I called back to book, I was given a different price which included breakfast. The customer service representative was extremely friendly and helpful, suggesting heading straight to a pizza place in town upon arrival, as it was the only place to eat that was open late. When we arrived, our check-in went smoothly and we walked up to our room (main lodge). Our room was very clean and modernly decorated. We were able to park right outside of our room. It was quiet and we had a lovely ocean view. The bed was extremely comfortable!

My only complaint is that the "breakfast included" option is misleading. We were under the impression that there was a free continental breakfast, as this is what we were told when booking and upon check-in. However, it is actually two options (a small breakfast sandwich) or a "healthy" breakfast (which was dried out cheese slices, yogurt container and sugary fruit) or you can upgrade to other breakfast options for more money. However, we were not informed of this on arrival. I would rather pay less money and not have any breakfast included. I would recommend scrapping the free breakfast option or increase the room rate and include an actual free breakfast with some options.

There are many other cute and comfortable places to stay in Baddeck with breakfast options...

Our family stayed 5 days in the MacLeod House, which is on the back of the SilverDart property. We had a lovely 1 bedroom suite with pullout sofa for 2 adults and 2 children. We had originally planned to stay in the center of town, but found the hotel/motel where we had reservations tired and extremely dated, so we started hunting for alternative accommodations and found SilverDart. They gave us a great reduced price because they had available space. It was like having our own apartment with a balcony overlooking the water. The bed was so comfortable. It had a Jacuzzi bath. There was a wonderful nature trail directly behind the house. The kids enjoyed the heated pool and basketball courts. The food in the restaurant was exceptional. We will definitely be back our next trip to Cape Breton.

We stayed one night in early June and had a great time. The front desk staff was great. They made dinner reservations for us at the restaurant (which was great), they told us about the property facilities (including a very, very clean coin laundry), gave us walking directions into town, and gave us tips on where to eat on the Cabot Trail.
The room was clean, comfortable and had a great view.
We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, and would recommend both. A nice touch is the early morning coffee and oat cakes that are set up at the bar.
Stay here for a night or two, you won't be sorry.

My husband booked our room on a travel website. When we checked in they said those rooms have no view and would we like to upgrade for $15 a night. Glad we did our room was very spacious, with a comfortable bed, 2 very comfortable chairs. Bathroom was nice, with sink outside, which we like. Guessing it was recently remodeled.
Front desk staff were very helpful and full of suggestions on the area.
Outdoor pool was heated, but pretty cool the first day. The next few days it got warmer as the weather got hotter.
They had bikes and helmets that you could use, along with lots of playground stuff for kids.
They also, have an area down by the lake..be sure to check it out. There is parking, so you don't have to walk down the hill. Nice gazebo and dock, if you want to go for a swim in the lake.
You could walk to town, but we drove. Got a pizza to go and ate at the park area downtown by the lake. They have a nice walking trail along the water too.
Did eat at the restaurant one night. Glad we made reservations. A tour bus came in and they had most of the space. Service was slow, but friendly. Food was good.
If booking, I'd check which type of room, since they have many options.
Only suggestion, they should fix the doors to the decks.. They squeaked and banged. Felt bad for neighbors when we out in the morning.
If you are in the area, besides the Cabot Trail, be sure to go to Alexander Graham Bells museum. Who knew all he did, besides invent the phone.

We were a group of 3 couples that stayed the night at the Lodge, to celebrate our friends 35th wedding anniversary. This is 4th time we stayed at the silver dart and come back because of the amazing view from your room ,overlooking the beautiful Baddeck Bay. We had diinner and breakfast and the food is very good. The staff are very kind and friendly and go out of their way to make your stay is satisfying. Amanda looked after our reservation ,check in and check out and she did an amazing job as always!

The lodge sets just on the outshirts of the small historical village of Baddek and a short walk to the , Alexander Graham Bell musium. Make sure you take in a sail on "the Ameba". It leaves from the wharf for a 11/2 hr sail out along the bay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the Bay.
