This hotel has a great location up high above the water. We planned on using the pull out to fit our family of 4. It worked but just barely as the rooms are not very large. Other than the smallish rooms, it is a great hotel that I would definitely recommend for a short stay.

This property has one thing in its favor - an unmatched view of the water. We spent hours watching the peninsula across the way, especially how it kept changing appearances under different light conditions. The room itself was serviceable, nothing more or less, although the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast, which was included, was adequate. We had dinner one night in the restaurant, we found it to be very overpriced and would avoid it in the future. A small bar there that you really don't want to sit in. So much could be done with this place - like maybe a fireplace inside. fire pit outside, more seating in the lobby area. And, definitely, more than just three rocking chairs outside - we had to bring a chair down from the patio to sit outside together. If you walk the Middle Head Trail (and don't bother coming to Ingonish if you don't!) you can look out across the water and see how truly isolated this property is.

Room Tip: Second floor with view of ocean

Wonderful location with best view on Cape Breton but interior rather basic with little character. Our room, we asked for a superior, was on the 2nd floor with windows on 2 sides looking out onto the coast and mountains. The bed was comfortable, there was a good sofa and table and chairs and good size bathroom but the walls everywhere are paper thin and noisy neighbours could be a problem. The building is on a headland on its own and there is nowhere else to go by foot and about 10 mins by car to the village proper. We ate in the hotel restaurant and found the food to be interesting, sea food with an Eastern influence as the chef is Chinese, and very tasty. Breakfast which you can have on the back deck is Ok but not very inspiring.

We really enjoyed out stay at this beautiful Inn. Staff was very friendly and the Inn is situated up high with amazing views. Dinner was excellent! Our room included breakfast which was a buffet with lots of items you don't usually see. Room was very clean. Lot's of brochures at the front desk on the area. Room was very clean, bed comfortable with a small sitting area and free wi-fi. Would stay there again!

Upon arrival at this hotel, the view was stupendous. Unfortunately, the hotel experience was atrocious. To be succinct, I was kept awake past midnight by the kitchen staff stomping on the floor which was above our room. To complement the noise from above, our neighbor turned on his bathroom fan several times during the night. This unit rattled and the noise reverberated into our room waking us up. At two in the morning, the fire alarm rang without reason. It took me several hours to go back to sleep. My friends stayed in an upstairs room and their window air conditioner kept them awake.

The saving grace of this stay was the breakfast, though it wasn't free. Book at your own risk.

My husband and I found this place as we were looking for somewhere to stay in the Ingonish area. The cost was a touch higher than what we normally would go for, but we were tired and grabbed it. It turned out to be a lovely place, with nice views of the foggy rolling hillside, and with understated, quality decor with a country spin. The bed was probably the most comfortable one we had during our two week trip, and I appreciated the night light in the washroom since I typically need to go at night. Supper had limited choice, but was very good. Breakfast was simple and self-serve - not a warm, full breakfast - but I liked what I had, including natural peanut butter for the toast and a very tasty nut/carrot loaf. The coffee was excellent. I also loved seeing bananas and MacIntosh (yay!) apples available. The two of us were very happy with our stay and the food we had.

Wanted a B&B close to the golf course at Ingonish after a ferry ride from Newfoundland to No. Sydney (about a 1 1/2 hr drive away). We had a "basement" room (clearly marked on our e-mail reservation) and found it very clean and comfortable - great bed and nice linens - felt newly refurbished. Dinner in the dining room was fine, the waitress charming. Buffet breakfast was good, with a large selection of food. But the highlight was the gorgeous sunset over the mountains and ocean, viewed either from the dining room or the large outdoor deck overlooking the water. Must commend Kim at the front desk - an energizer bunny, responding quickly to our requests (ice for our drinks, change of keys for our room) - pleasant and helpful. Perhaps a tad more expensive than some other B&B's, but also a little more sophisticated.
