Kennington Cove Beach is really a series of two beaches which we call the first and second beach. It was on this beach during the second attack on Louisbourg over 250 years ago that Captain James Cook learned how to make maps, a skill which he put to good use. These beaches were used by the British during the attack to land troops and their artillery. The beaches are beautiful but the water can be cold, and not just a little cold. Also, the weather can be a bit unpredictable at times as fog can roll in unexpectedly. You should bring insect repellant as the flies can be an issue. There are bathroom facilities as well as picnic tables. Camping is not allowed, but there are campsites and hotels in Louisbourg about 4-5 miles away.
