Beautiful place, right on the water. Great views, so long as you don't have a road-facing room, which looks right over the adjoining RV park. Walls were thin so we could easily hear our neighbors coming and going. Thankfully they weren't up all night.

Room Tip: Request an ocean view room else you'll be overlooking the RV park.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry you were disturbed by noise in the other room. Our walls are indeed well insulated though not sound proof. No establishment is sound proof but we do our best to ensure our guests have a quiet and comfortable stay while with us. Thank you for posting your concerns.

This hotel is right on the ocean. We had 4 people so we booked a one bedroom apartment, which was extremely clean and spacious. There were 2 beds in the bedroom, and one bed in the living room. Very well-equipped. View of the ocean from the balcony. Hardwood floors. We could hear walking upstairs but that subsided after they were in bed. We attended the wonderful Beggars' Banquet, with food and entertainment. I had the crab, which takes a long time to eat. It was good, though. Other people in our party had the lobster, which they quite enjoyed.

Room Tip: Not all the units face the ocean, so if that's what you want, then ask for it when you book.

We chose this place because of its close location to the Fortress. We were amazed when we checked in and were directed down almost to the water's edge and opened the door to the amazing turret room. The room was huge, with incredible views out of every window. The bed was super comfortable and we had the best nights sleep of the trip. My only suggestion for this room would be a small fridge to keep drinks cool. We did go to the Beggars Banquet and really enjoyed it! Just a short walk brings you over to the parking lots for the Fortress and the shuttles to the Fortress itself. I agree with other reviewers that the breakfasts are nothing special, but they do not advertise themselves as a B & B and at least they do offer a basic reasonably priced breakfast.

Room Tip: The "octagon" room must have the best views of all the rooms but there are no kitchen faci...

I just stayed at the Point of View Suites and I cannot believe this place! Stunning! Situated directly in front of the beach with a magnificent ocean-view room. My husband and I stopped here as a break during our cross Canada tour on our way to P.E.I and he picked the spot...unbelievable. The first impression of the place at the gates is "ummm...I hope I'm staying at the mansion in the distance." Luckily it was the front office, just the check-in site. There are places on the side for R.V's to stop or to pitch a tent. The rates are quite affordable. Laundromat and facilities are available for those campers.
This incidentally does not detract at all from the location because the main accommodations are located right on the beach with nothing inhibiting your view of the ocean, if you have the ocean-view rooms. I cannot speak for the other rooms facing the street but I would say spend the extra $20 for the view. Each of these rooms boasts a private veranda with two chairs to enjoy the harbour and the picturesque waves crashing along the shore. The Point of View also hosts "The Beggar's Banquet" and costs $40. I was among those who balked at the price for dinner and entertainment, I was not balking for long. You are first given a choice at check-in of Lobster, snow crab legs, Halibut or Roasted chicken along with a salad bar, hot veggies, rice, beans, peas and corn...and of course don't even think about forgetting the dessert. You are then led to a large wooden room to dress for supper in "authentic styled" 18th century era clothes. Don't pass up on this everyone dressed up and the dining hall was packed. The lead entertainer plays an amazing blend of French Canadian and English folk music and Sebean will leave you laughing until your belly hurts, you are entertained and wondering where the 2 hours went! The best $40 I have ever spent. Worth the drive to stay here as opposed to Sydney. Will definitely come again when in the Cape Breton.

Thank you for your raving review. You honour our hard work and efforts with your compliments. Your satisfaction gives us great pleasure and encourages us to maintain the level of quality you experienced while with us. As for the view, we can't take credit for but we do appreciate it.
I have to make a correction to your review. We do not have a laundry facility, however Mr. Peck has one at his convenience store.

Thanks again for the great review.

We had an incredible octagon shaped room that was big enough to live in! Complete with a four poster bed, two wing back chairs, large tV and a telescope to look at the ocean and the fort. It is a five minute drive to the Fortress. The breakfast was less than exciting, especially after experiencing some lovely B and B's on the same trip.

We're glad you loved the room. It is quite a view on the ocean and the view of the Fortress. We truly appreciate the reviews our guests post. It serves to give us direction and encouragement.
Our breakfast is basic. We serve eggs any style, bacon or sausage, toast whole wheat or white tea & coffee for an affordable price of $7.98. We offer hot or cold cereal also. We would like to be able to serve the breakfasts that B&B's are famous for. Thank you for your review and we're pleased that your stay with was a good one.

This is far and away the best property in Louisbourg, located on a promonotory above a secluded beach, in the middle between Louisbourg town and the Fortress.

I was in a 2nd floor, ocean view studio suite. The furnishings were comfortable, the view was great, the full kitchen was well equipped and the suite felt modern and brand new.

The living area was missing a coffee table, resulting in no place to put a drink and the toiletries were not at the level of a top tier hotel, but otherwise it was perfect. We skipped the banquet (started at 6PM, which is early for us) and instead chose the excellent Grubstake in the village.

I want to thank for taking the time to write this complementary review. We feel validated by your show of satisfaction. We feel very fortunate to have this great ocean front property to share with our guests.
I will look into getting end tables to provide space and add to our guests comfort. Thanks for pointing that out to us.
I'm glad that you enjoyed your meal at the Grubsteak. Thank you for sharing.

I don't often get to stay at hotels; when I do it's normally the average place around the corner. I must say that staying at this oceanfront oasis has opened my eyes to smaller and more private establishments. The Point of View Suites is situated at the gates of the Fortress of Louisbourg. This is the only place in Louisbourg that has it's own beach access. We were lucky enough to stay in what felt like an apartment with breathtaking views from every window. My husband and I went with the kids (5 and 7) and they loved it there. We had our own exit that went to the rear of the building giving us access to the beach and back lawn overlooking the Cabot Strait and Battery Island as well as the Fortress of Louisbourg. We had 2 queen sized beds, spacious bathroom, a large desk, 2 black leather love seats with kitchen and dining room. The suite had beautiful hard wood flooring and white linens - made it feel so fresh and clean. What more could you ask for! Oh, they also offer wireless internet.

The staff at the Point of View showcased what true Cape Breton hospitality is all about and I can say that because I am a Caper! It has been a hot summer for us here in Cape Breton and staff was kind to bring up fans for our room (which was quite comfortable with the breeze going through our suite) and couldn't do enough for us.

We took in the Beggar's Banquet that is held onsite just a 2 minute walk from your suite. Please see my pictures - the atmosphere at the banquet was awesome. After purchasing your meal ticket, you can walk through the back where staff is waiting to dress you in 18th century clothing - if you choose to. My daughter and I dressed up and really enjoyed it. It made you feel like you were part of a group, people were smiling and talking as though they knew each other - it was a great feeling. The food was delicious, we had the chicken and lobster and both were out of this world. Even more, you are entertained by staff as Sebean stops by your table to say hi and make you laugh while Etienne sings local tunes in French and English and tells stories. After everyone had eaten we all got up, joined hands and did a little dance. It was a lot of fun.

After dinner we took a walk on the beach and found wild strawberries to munch on. The kids enjoyed a bath in the jet tub and watched some TV before going to bed.

We will definitely go back and stay with the Point of View Suites again - thank you to Linda & Tom Kennedy and Staff for making it such a wonderful weekend.

Room Tip: All of the rooms were beautifully done. Some have balconies and other's do not. Our room didn...
