Ours was a very last minute 2-day stay in late Sept. but we were welcomed heartily to an efficiency suite with beautiful hardwood floors, gorgeous linens and a view of both the Fortress of Louisbourg and the site of the oldest permanent lighthouse in Canada!

This is an hotel/RV complex on the harbour where tides ebb and flow, and the rocks look like deep purple amythests. Accommodations in the hotel were lovely, spacious and included a 3 seater sofa and kitchen table and chairs in Country Style. The RV/Trailer setup seemed to provide planty of space for each vehicle.

The only drawback at the Point of View in late September was the necessity to pre-arrange meals in the cavernous dining hall. Meals were limited selections.
We were off-season, and perhaps they operate differently in-season.

We arrived on Sunday morning to a little too early to check in, we must have looked pretty tired from our traveling because the front desk clerk sympathetically assured us they would have our room ready asap. A very short time later we were unpacking in our beautiful cottage with double jacuzzi! The room was clean, spacious, and very private. We took part in a themed dinner with a choice of lobster, crab, halibut and a few other none seafood options. I had the halibut and it was delicious. The entertainment during the feast was lovely and guests were invited to dance and to sing along. There were all you can eat sides such as soups and chowders and rice and vegetables all very tasty. At night you can hear the waves crashing on the beach, what a relaxing way to end and incredibly fun evening! In the morning my husband and I over slept and missed breakfast but they happily put us together some delicious bacon and eggs with tea. I can't wait until next summer when we will be visiting the area again. Point of View is the only place in Louisburg we will be staying!

We spent 2 nights at this what I thought was a B&B establishment. We had 2 adjoining rooms, one for the kids and the other for us. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly and due to the fact that we were last minute bookings, she had to move things around so we could be next to each other.
I think we paid more for the ocean view, and thank goodness we did as the other view is the parking lot for RVs and the highway. The rooms were neatly decorated, we had the corner suite on the second floor so we had two windows on one side and the balcony facing the water. Whereas there weren't windows, the establishment built in window frames and blinds to mirrors to make the room seem brighter and bigger.
There were a few complaints, one being the blow dryer in one room did not work but given that it was Sunday, nothing could be done about that until after we check out on Monday morning. I had to use the kids' bathroom blowdryer but what if you don't have access to another room nearby? One of the two lawn chairs on the balcony was broken, it held my 115 lb frame but anyone bigger may not be as lucky. That I forgot to mention to the front desk. The screen has a 4" rip along the bottom which could explain the fly and a few moths in our room. They could replace the kitchen step-on garbage cans so when you step on it, it opens properly. These things can be easily taken care of, the place was kept very clean and because we checked in late the night before we declined housekeeping service but she brought us extra towels which was appreciated. They could put some hair conditioner in the bathroom and perhaps put in some storage shelves in the bathroom, or bigger counter.
We found out there's a charge of $5.95 for breakfast and coffee (between 8 & 10 at the office building). Three choices, bacon or sausages, eggs and toasts; oatmeal or cold cereal.
They said they have high speed Internet. Well, that was the major complaint with our family as my husband does work off the Internet while we travel on vacation. The first night we couldn't get connection, barely found the hotel's signal. Same as the second morning but once we mentioned it to the front desk, it was Internet galore all afternoon. However, it was unavailable in the evening again and for the remaining time we stayed there. Not at all happy about that and that could be easily fixed by installing a second router!
Life is good when you can go to sleep and wake up to the sound of the ocean. The pebble beach is just steps away from our rooms and you can walk along there for a long time. My kids love to stargaze and what better place than a place so far away from the city?
Lobster Kettle restaurant was recommended to us for seafood/lobster dinner and after eating lobsters all through the maritime, Lobster Kettle has the freshest and well steamed lobster in this part of the country.
We were offered the choice of dinner at the hotel with costumes and 2 hours of French music entertainment. Say costume to a 17 yr old and see how fast he runs therefore we weren't able to participate!
All in all, it was an awesome experience with a few minor kinks that can be easily worked out.

Enjoyed staying at Point of View very much. Clean accomodations very friendly staff. Great dinner. Dressed up in period costumes (1750's) had a choice of lobster, snow crab, chicken, halibut, or meat pie. Soup , salad, and dessert come with it, also entertainment, Could also have a hot buttered rum. Lots of fun. The only negative was the fog when we were there. That was not the inn keeper's fault. The fortress at Louisbourg was a great historic lesson for all of us.

The Point of View Suites is a nice property right on the ocean in Louisbourg. Our family had a "luxury apartment" on the second floor with a beautiful view of the harbour. This unit had a separate bedroom with two beds, and a queen bed in the main living area that faced the ocean. Our unit was nice, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was spacious, and the wood floors throughout were nice, but to call these suites "luxury" is a stretch. I would liken them more to a higher end cottage.

We enjoyed hiking the rocky beach from the hotel towards the Fort of Louisbourg. This walk offers great views of the fort and access to several of the unrestored ruins. As one poster indicated, the parking lot at the Point of View is an RV campsite. Although there were only a handful of RV parked the night we were there, it looked as if there were spaces for at least 20.

The floors/ceilings here are not well insulated for noise and so we were awakened early by the people upstairs who obviously have not learned to walk with the heel to toe move, instead opting for the full foot stomp at 7am.

The cost to stay at Point of View is not inexpensive, but it was nice to have a separate room from the kids for a change.

Our room was beautiful. It was a one story octogan shape room with leather furniture and big windows on every wall displaying it's wonderful ocean views.
I do wish they would add an alarm clock next to the bed, and some kind of shelf in the washroom areas, and a mirror in bath area. The bathrooms were very "commerical" ( in this room). The shower/tub was in one area and the sink and toliet were in another area. The toliet area was the room with the only mirror and no place to put your personal items in either area. That would have been very helpful.
We didn't eat at Point of View, but a dinner was offered. They dressed you in "period" clothing for the dinner. The staff was very nice and helpful.
