A Seafaring Maiden Bed and Breakfast

Bill and Ann Marie were so welcoming and helpful in planning our local itinerary, and couldn't have done more to help us make the most of our stay. We overnighted in the Captain's room presented in a comfortable period style with great views of Annapolis Royal across the river. Wine glasses and early morning tea were lovely touches. Our hosts' excellent local knowledge directed us to a restaurant in AR for an excellent seafood dinner. After a wonderful sleep in a super cosy bed we found room for the tempting breakfast on offer, with lots of fresh fruit and crepes with NS maple syrup. In need of exercise we set off with Bill's map for a hike at Delap's Cove, where we enjoyed a forest and shore walk, though fog prevented us sharing the promised scenic views of the Bay of Fundy . We will just have to return again!

Great quiet location on the river facing the town Annapolis Royal. Well maintained restored Victorian home with beautiful architectural features, e.g. Wedgewood detailing in dining room, original banisters, and museum quality antiques in the main living areas. Bathrooms are modern. Being early risers, we enjoyed the carafe of coffee put out in the upstairs hallway in the early morning. We stayed in the Captain's room and enjoyed watching the rise and fall of the tide from our bay window. The Adirondack chairs in the picnic area by the river is a great peaceful place to toast the sunset. Although it is a long walk to most attractions, it is a short car drive. Take advantage of the hosts knowledge of the area. Bill or Ann Marie will help you tailor your itinerary to your interest as they did with us. Breakfasts are large and included fresh fruit, homemade yogurt and granola, and a quiche. The homemade 'carrot cake' jam was yummy.

Room Tip: Captain's Room has a great view of the river. It is roomy for two people.

We stayed 2 nights and would definitely go back. The owners are knowledgeable about the area and strive to help you enjoy the area. We did genealogy research and they connected us with a local genealogist.

My wife and I spent five nights in the Abigail at the Seafaring Maiden for our honeymoon. We could not have picked a better place. We passed many B&B's in Annapolis Royal, but none of them had the view that we did. Great bayside location. Our hosts were tremendously helpful and friendly and the biscuits we had with breakfast every day were the absolute best.

When you are in Nova Scotia all you want to do is be around the water and soak in all of the beautiful scenery and sea shore vistas. The Seafaring Maiden has just added a special waterfront lounging area complete with Maskoka chairs and a camp fire pit right on the shore of the Annapolis Basin. We were one of the first guests to enjoy this fantastic spot. I bought a few things at the local grocery and liquor store and we had a marvelous "Happy Hour" (or two) watching the tide roll in.
Even though I was an unexpected guest ( I just happened by and knocked on the door) the Monks greeted us with sincere warmth and hospitality. They did not hesitate a moment to allow us to come view the rooms and pick a favourite. Everything was impeccably clean and ready to go. After a very comfortable nights rest we enjoyed a breakfast fit for Royals.
We feel very blessed to have been able to stay here and if we are ever travelling this way again it will be at the top of the list for a place to stay.

Room Tip: Captains Room has great view and own private ensuite

Great house, excellent location and a nice view of Annapolis Royal from across the water. Bill and Ann-Marie were very friendly and helpful, and served a delicious breakfast which we shared with the other guests.

I was a little surprised to find that the room doors don't lock. As security is important to me, this made me a little nervous. There was some light renovation work being done to our windows while we stayed there which meant the for the night, we were without a sash window (although there was a storm window) but more importantly, the blind was missing from that window so we felt a bit exposed when it got dark outside.

All in all a good experience and I would go back again

Room Tip: The Bessey has a private washroom, however it is not attached to to bedroom itself but is across the...

Hello Noel, from Bill and Ann Marie, your hosts at A Seafaring Maiden Bed & Breakfast.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for our lovingly maintained ancestral home. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you would come back again.

We appreciate your understanding regarding the restoration/maintenance that was in progress to a window during your stay as the summer is truly the only time of year this can be accomplished.

We too find securty of our home extremely important, thus either one or both of us in on the premises at all times. As well, each guest room does lock and latch from the inside for securing our guests when they retire for the evening.

We wish you all the best!
