The only reason I did not rate this 1 star was because the food was good..but this was by far some of the worst service I have ever had.
I came here with 13 other people for a goodbye party for a colleague.
One of our party arrived a bit late. As she was taking off her jacket, our server ("Cindy" according to my receipt) came up behind her (quietly) to serve 3 drinks to the table. I went to warn my colleague to watch out but it was too late and they bumped into each other and the drinks spilled.
No one was angry--these things happen! I was a bit surprised, however, as Cindy didn't say a word (no apology or offer to get a towel or something) just hurried off to get a mop. Again, no big deal--I thought she just wanted to get it cleaned up quickly.
My partner stood up to pick up some pieces of broken glass and Cindy came back out. After cleaning for a few minutes she mumbled a half-hearted apology. I smiled at her and said "Oh don't worry about it, not your fault! You can't be blamed for gravity". She then blamed my colleague for the mistake. "Well she bumped into my tray and that's why it fell".
I was shocked, and I could see my colleague was deeply uncomfortable, but no one said anything and I chose to let it go.
However, about 20 minutes later, Cindy came back around with more drinks..and made ANOTHER COMMENT about how my colleague was to blame for the earlier mishap! The comment was along the lines of "well hopefully you don't bump into my arm this time". I was SHOCKED. this was so unprofesional and highly inappropriate.
At this point I got up to find a manager and let her know the situation. she apologized and asked me to point out who had drinks spilled on them, which I did. I returned to my seat.
Shortly thereafter, Cindy came over to our table and said (VERY rudely) "Alright, which one had the drinks spilled on you? Apparently one of you told my manager and now I have to comp that meal"
I was completely speechless. Everyone around me was so uncomfortable. I mentioned that two of my colleagues had drinks spilled on them and she walked away.
She came back a few minutes later and started asking what everyone had to eat/drink (as we were splitting bills). She wrote everything down on a notepad. When she was done, my two colleagues (who had the drinks spilled on them) and I moved to the opposite end of the table to chat with some other guests. When I came back to my seat, my fiancé told me that Cindy had returned to the table again when we were gone and asked him, "The girl who knocked my arm and spilled the drinks--what did she eat again?"
First of all, STOP BRINGING IT UP and trying to blame someone for a simple mistake! Secondly, why are you asking my fiancé what another guest had? That's not his responsibility, and we just saw you write everything down!
It took more than 15 minutes for all of us to get our cheques, and at least one person had an error on theirs despite all the headaches.
I was extremely disappointed that the manager did not come by to apologize, nor to ask if everything worked out. I am so embarrassed for my colleagues and so saddened that this put a dark cloud over what should have been a beautiful send-off for a coworker we care about deeply. The behaviour we encountered was unprofessional, rude, and completely out of line. I'm still absolutely flabbergasted by what happened and I've been home a half hour. This is not a way to treat customers.
Unreal.
