The food is fantastic. The beers are rich, varied and interesting. The bar is beautiful. The service is very professional. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait but that's to be expected when you're at arguably the best restaurant in town. Well worth it. Great place.

Thank Dan F

We had not visited for several years, but we were once again impressed. We enjoy the atmosphere very much. My husband loved his specialty beer. The key element is the food ..... Delicious!!!! We had the beet salad, duck taco, Brie and mushrooms, shrimp and chorizo. We were stuffed!!! Pricing is reasonable .... Of course, we are used to Toronto prices!!! I definitely recommend the Black Dog!!

The decor, vast selection of whiskeys and beers, and especially the food made this a great find! I began with the escargot starter which was very tasty. My wife had the beet salad which she thought was sublime. Her main course, the smoked pork chop, was better than any we had experienced in the UK! I enjoyed the lamb, which was tender and succulent - and the vegetables for both were complementary and cooked to perfection. Perhaps our only complaint is that the quantities were too generous!

I have been to the Black Dog many times. My last visit was a bit disappointing, but it was entirely due to the service. It wasn't exceptionally bad or exceptionally slow, but it was indifferent. The food usually takes a while at this place just because it's always busy in the summer and it has a fairly small kitchen. Our group of six sat outside on the lovely patio. As the evening darkened, the only lighting at our large table was one tiny votive candle - the overall ambiance could be improved with more soft lights. The food was very, very good. We had a beautiful beet salad and our group had a variety of hamburgers, meatloaf sandwiches, and the short rib special. Everyone liked their entree and we thought their beer selection was diverse and interesting as usual. If our server had smiled even once or acted just a tad friendly, it would have been a different experience. We were promised bread that never came, water glasses sat empty, and we just didn't feel a lotta love. Management seems like they are working hard, though, to accommodate the crowds at this busy place.

We chose this place because of the reviews. I don't know what they were drinking, but we totally not impressed. The service was slow, but understandable considering it was a lovely summer evening. The food on the other hand was horrific. The burger was dry, lacked any flavor, and basically a lump of meat in the middle of a oversized bun. You had to drench it in ketchup to swallow it. The fries were soggy, greasy, very brown and tasteless. The curry was more like chilly than curry. Not a hint of curry spice in the dish. And if you like fish and chips don't order it here. Don't waist your time or money on this place!
