Just returned from Girls Weekend at Huff Estates!! The Inn is gorgeous...we stayed in the Winemakers Suite and it was gorgeous. The staff were amazingly helpful and accomodating, especially Holly! We hope to return when the weather is warmer and the grapes are going....I'm sure it is even prettier then!!
15 of my family came to Huff estates for a girls weekend. The staff were amazing, the food was great and the rooms were stunning. I would highly recommend staying here. We would love to come back in the summer.
We booked a room months ago.There was a snow storm advisory for 15 cm of blowing snow conditions.The 401 Hwy was a whiteout between Kingston to Napanee.We tried to cancell with over 24 hr notice.We were advised that Huff Estates had no evidence of snow warning.Rather than risking our lives we decided to wait out the snow.We were told that due to a local Maple Syrup Fest there was a chance the room could be rented.It was not and we were charged .We will never set foot in that inn.We tried the wine and found it to be of poor quality for the price.Travelers beware.
We stayed here in May 2013 and had a great time! The hotel is right next to the winery! The room was very clean and specaious and we were very impressed. The breakfast in the morning was reasonable (buffet style) also. We toured a few of the local winerys, visited Sand Banks Provincial Park (even though i wasn't open yet for the season) and ate at East & Main in Bloomfield for dinner.
Adjacent to the winery, so you have a source for tucking in a few bottles for the evening, because you're miles from anything else ( and that's why we stayed there anyway. ) Tomb silent overnight, and a pleasant room ( though there are decorative touches that are gonna start looking dated...)
Now, a few points to consider: the WiFi was pretty much unusable in our room ( though excellent strength in the lobby) so that needs to be looked at by the local IT folks.
The breakfast sadly is a hot ( or rather, cols) mess. Not at all up to some basic standards here - utterly miserable coffee ( an automatic espresso/cappuccino machine is sorely needed here) , the breakfast wraps need to be binned, and the self serve waffle maker is a lesson in disappointment. Seriously, tack on another 5 dollars to the room rate, and bring in some local cheeses and cured meats and baked goods. I come to the County to experience the local fare, and there are just so many points for improvement on the breakfast here: sort that, and its 5/5.
We can not say enough about this wonderful Inn. We had to find a place to stay for 3 families, including children, on short notice due to a family funeral. Much to our dismay, many places close down for the winter in the County. The Picton Chamber of Commerce came to our rescue and recommended this place.
We could not have been happier - the rooms were phenomenal and included a lovely sitting area and fireplace plus TVs and a DVD player in each room and they had a full selection of DVDs to borrow at the front desk. The breakfast was amazing, the staff kind and helpful and very understanding of our various needs. They printed off speeches for us at the front desk, lent us highlighters for said speeches, let us borrow the dining area to have our take-out dinner in after a heavy storm made us re-think going out for dinner and the lady who ran the breakfast area even planned for chocolate waffles when she found out that kids were there.
Thank you Huff Estates for a wonderful, wonderful stay. We would highly recommend it - clean, well appointed, friendly, convenient, easy to find, we would love to come back.
