We booked into this deluxe B&B for 2 nights on our way home from the USA. Our plan was to check out a number of small wineries in the "Twenty Bench" area (Grimsby, Beamsville, Vineland) to buy some wines not available through the Liquor Control Board of Ontario. We booked the "Alan Suite" (AKA the Bridal Suite) on the second floor. It was huge with a fantastic ensuite which included an antique claw foot tub and a large walk-in shower. There was lots of storage room in both the bath and the bedroom. Obviously upgraded bedding was used and even the pillow cases were ironed! There were coffee cups and wine glasses in the room and a Kuerig right outside the bedroom door. Our hostess, Barb, was great! When shes at us down after showing us all we needed to see, she poured a glass of wine for each of us. She watched carefully as we drank the wine and then asked politely if we were interested in learning how to enjoy our wine even more, Well, DUH! Of course! Barb spent the next 2 1/2 hours showing us how different glasses work on different wines, how various cheeses pair with various wines, etc. She was a fountain of knowledge. I have paid as much as $50 a time, multiple times, for "wine tasting seminars" while on various cruise ships and al of those together did not educate me 1/2 as much as Barb did. She was worth the price of the B&B herself. The house was built in 1846 and upgraded about 12 years or so ago. It has a nice pool table for the guests' use as well as a lovely inground pool and surrounding deck loaded with comfy chairs. The huge front yard is perfect as a wedding venue and apparently has hosted many such events. A great house and property for sure. And then there is the other part of B& B that is not the bed!. Breakfast! Wow! You will not ever see bacon and eggs here. Barb's philosophy is that you can get that anywhere, anytime. Here, you are going to be spoiled with a gourmet breakfast which will include a fresh fruit cocktail, home baked biscuits, a savoury dish such as a yummy fritata and a sweet dish such as french toast stuffed with cream cheese ad blueberries served with real maple syrup. Of course, juice and coffee flows along with it and if you want, good conversations with Barb and perhaps if he is home, with Ron too. I have done B&B's all across Canada, the USA (including Hawaii) and Europe and this certainly ranks as one of the top 5, perhaps even tied for first place, If you are in the Grimsby area this is the place to stay.
