“WOW”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

WOW as in woooow that sucked. Food in the fridge from whoever stayed there before. Only 1/2 the light bulbs in the room were operational. Casino gets crowded and is full of scary people. Front desk staff is COMPLETELY incompetent. The only reason this place is still open is because it's nearly the only place to stay at in New Town and it's too far from any other decent city to drive to at night after concerts. Trash ALL over the hallways, like literally candy wrappers and empty pop cans. Maintenance closets just hanging out open at night exposing all the disgusting cleaning things.

Makes me miss my Minnesota casinos that actually seem to care about their reputations.

Don't waste your time!! Dealers are untrained. Understaffed. Craps and Roulette were not running on Friday night. Only 1 Blackjack table..and it was full. 4 Bears is a HUGE disappointment. We drove 100 miles to be very unamused.

Since 4 Bears was the only option in the New Town area, we were forced to use their facility for a group we brought to town for a week for business purposes. I have never encountered worse customer service. I tried to acquire an estimate and confirmation numbers for my group numerous times, via email, fax and phone. None of my messages were returned, and I was routinely transferred to random voicemail boxes rather than a physical person.

Once we were at the hotel, we had numerous issues, such as the removal of one guest's belongings from her room (an error was made and, according to the computer, the room was supposed to be empty, so security did a belongings removal), among a wide variety of other issues. Some rooms were clean and comfortable, while others were in various states of disrepair (one guest had to wear shoes in the shower...).

I hope the staff receives some training and the hotel hires some better management staff, because at this time, I do not know how they stay open.

Room Tip: Don't stay here. If you have to, request a room with wifi (not all rooms have wifi available).

After reading the previous posts, we were quite hesitant about the Lodge and the services. We were pleasantly surprised and stayed there 2 nights. ! The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We were in the old wing and it was a hike to the lobby. The carpets in the hallways could use a good cleaning. . I found the staff to be courteous, friendly and very helpful. The buffet breakfast and the lunch was excellent ...great selection and well prepared . The snack bar is somewhat limited but it is just that...we would definitely return as the casino as the machines allowed for good playing time. The only negative was the smoking room....pretty disgusting as the ventilation was poor and many of the machines were out of order.

Room Tip: There is a confectionary just outside the casino. Tobacco and alcohol were reasonably priced and it...

Since 4 Bears is the only hotel in New Town we was our only option.
The front desk service was terrible. There were 5 people in the front desk and only one of them was working. And forget about costumer service they don't care about you at all.
The rooms are pretty nasty. We stayed in room 3037, in the new section. It smelled weird, it had dirty carpet and also had roaches.
The buffet food was poor quality and very limited selection.
We actually checked out one day early, because it was so unpleasant.

It took over an hour to get checked in and the front desk staff was inept. I was told I was in the "new section" which feels like the floor in the hallways might give way under your weight. The good news is that there was no vomit on the steps in the "new section" but there was in the "old section" where I got lost...I estimate is was at least 4 days old. The common areas seemed as if they had never been cleaned, but the rooms were clean and comfortable. Everything feels cheap and poorly constructed and there is a slight smell of smoke and sewage throughout. The tile floor of the bathroom in my room was cracked and broker, shoes were required if you didn't want to cut your feet. In the rooms, they had nice big, flat screen TVs and the A/C worked well. The grounds out side were disheveled and littered with trash. Overall is was pretty gross.

We were thinking of stopping in there again sometime soon. We haven't been there for over 8 years. After reading the reviews, it looks like nothing has changed. Don't blame the oil boom for lack of finding good help. The employees at 4 Bears don't give a dang. 8 years ago we too experienced horrible rooms, service, employee attitudes and they double charged us for our room. Our last experience was very unpleasant. The worst part of our visit was we had to spend another night because of a snow storm and roads were closed. The power went out in the hotel but the casino was running like normal. If you were out of your room at the time the power went out, we couldn't get back in because of the keys. The desk clerk could have let us in, but required a manager to approve it. Where the manager was, we have no idea. Didn't show up for HOURS! People were sleeping on the floors in the lobby and hallways. Vending machines were out of order. Snack food stations were always closed. The bartenders would only serve their friends and ignore the customers. When you finally got their attention, they were extremely rude. I'm glad I read the "Tripadvisor" reviews. We will NOT visit this casino again. Apparently the owners of the casino don't read reviews about their place. TO BAD!
