“You gotta stay here”
Reviewed 11 July 2012

My husband and I stayed at Mettawas-End B&B and we loved it! We stayed July 1st,2012 in the Walker Room. The house was very comfortable and the host was very informative and friendly. The breakfast was great .... all four courses!

Room Tip: I always refer a room with bathroom attached because it gives you more privacy

This is a very nice B&B. We stayed in the Walker room, with the roof top patio. A neat idea, bringing the yard up to us! From there, is a set of new wooden stairs that brings you down to the backyard. This was handy for our evening hot tub soak. Which was lovely, enjoying the stars above. Ask Roland to set out some towels and turn on the light by the hot tub. The backyard has a pretty pond, and lots of sitting options to relax and enjoy nature. Lots of birds right there, including hummingbirds (incl. a photo).
Our breakfast was wonderful, the care and detail Roland puts into it shows and is much appreciated! Set aside about an hour for breakfast, the various courses take time and what a treat to relax during breakfast and not have to do anything - but eat!
They have 2 super friendly cats, which I love, so I was more then happy to pat them, as they curled around my feet. If you have cat issues, know they don't go in the guest rooms and can be kept in their area if need be.
Our private bathroom was spacious with a big soaker jet tub and 2 sinks. The heated towel rack is a fabulous touch. The only thing is, the water pressure, the shower has a rain style shower head that doesn't seem to have different settings, just a very low flow! Which for a gal with long thick hair, well the shampoo just does not come out. I ended up sticking my head under the tap in the tub in hopes to rinse it out. Not much pressure there either. So be fore warned about washing your hair - if its long! Since its an older home it might be a pipe work issue?
We would definitely stay here again. The location is great too, there are a few restaurants within walking distance, which was nice, especially after enjoying some wine from the local wineries.

If you wish to visit the Pelee island area, this should be your first choice for accommodations. The Walker room is fabulous, the private roof top garden patio is beautiful, the room itself superb and the private bathroom elegant. Our host, Roland, served a complete gourmet breakfast each day and was very knowledgeable about the local wineries and restaurants. We will be back!

Wow! The bed and breakfast exceeded our expectations. It is just a beautiful house. The owner, Roland, could not have been more accomodating. Even before we went there, via email, I told him my daughter was vegan and he assured me that it was not a problem and he would make something special for breakfast. The house itself has been lovingly updated and is just amazing. The bedrooms are great and include a fridge. The one bedroom even has an attached living roof (kind of like a garden literally growing on the roof) where you can sit and enjoy the outside. That room has a beautiful attached bathroom. The other bedroom where we stayed was very elegant. The bathroom was down the hall. We shared it with my daughter who stayed in a small room down the hall. The host provided robes in case we needed them. That bathroom was fantastic with a huge shower that even had a sauna attached. Just beautiful. There are only the three rooms available. Now to the best part-breakfast!!! I was so very impressed. My brother who was also staying there had to leave early in the morning so Roland was up at the crack of dawn preparing a lovely breakfast for him and his wife. Then, a few hours later, he prepared another wonderful breakfast for my husband, myself and my daughter. He served the breakfast in different courses and it truly was one of the best breakfasts we have ever had. Seriously, even the coffee was perfect. The house was formerly owned by Hiram Walker's son back in the day. Roland will be glad to tell you about it. He was the perfect host. If you happen to be around the area, perhaps going to Point Pelee, please do yourself a favor and have a wonderful stay at Mettawa's End. You will not regret it.
