Up front, we really enjoyed our stay here and will return. It is a bit expensive considering that some upkeep is needed, and better management would help. That being said, the place was packed and their is not much comparable in the area. Our 2 bedroom suite was nice, but a bit dated and could use some TLC. The location is beautiful, golf course amazing, pools very nice, lake gorgeous and clean, and water toys were wicked fun for my family. Dining was nice at the Windows steakhouse, but $250 for family of 4 without alcohol. The Fireside was too informal, and we did not eat there. In summary, great spot for families, great fun, good food, bit pricey and not for couples or those wanting a high end or luxury spa experience.

Went up for the weekend with our 18 year old son to get out of the city. The views were amazing.

Enjoyed the ambiance of being on Lake Joseph, and the dinner at the steakhouse was superb. The striploin was cooked to perfection.

There were enough canoes, kayaks, etc for everyone on a long weekend.

Our one bedroom suite was a bit dated.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite for 4 nights this past week. Very comfortable with a small kitchenette. Beautiful spot on Lake Joseph. Sat on the patio overlooking the lake for dinner & drinks - gorgeous! Very family oriented with lots of water toys for the kids. Although we don't have small children anymore, we enjoyed sitting & watching others' having fun. The golf in the area is a fabulous experience (although pricey). The staff is very friendly & helpful.
Wish it was a little more affordable, but that's Muskoka for you. We bought a Travelzoo deal for our stay. We also took some our own food, which helped. They have dishes, cutlery, fridges, microwave, toaster & strangely enough even a small dishwasher in the suites. A toaster oven would have been nice.
We did love it & will return in a second if we find another affordable deal.

stayed for four nights. food was good. staff was very friendly. the waterfront set up is fantastic with the use of canoes, kayaks, and water toys. 2 bedroom suite was great. rocky crest golf course is my favourite course to play and i play a lot of golf! the restaurant at the course is really nice too. overall, the resort is very relaxing as you never have to use your car once you are there!

Stayed one night at this Resort to attend a wedding. The two bedroom suite we had was disgusting. Wall paper falling from wall. Hole between the bottom of the tub and the wall, looks like someone had maybe kicked in the corner. Carpets dirty. In need of a facelift for that price. Had to stick our hand in the back of the toilet to push down on the plunger so the toilet wouldn't keep running (slimy - yuk) Would never recommend this place to family or friends and definately I would never go back.

We paid $450 a night and staid for 4 days. Overall, the location and lake is great, but the overall quality of the resort does not match the price paid. At that price at would expect to have a better service and amenities than what we experienced.

Negative: we received our room after the 4PM usual check-in time, the original room received was a middle unit with no windows on the side walls, and a closed-in balcony!! The second room given had a better lake view, had a balcony (well, a balcony with a very old uncomfortable patio set with a deteriorated cement floor full of rocks and dirt); the unit was still old looking with old fashioned furniture and you could write on the bedside tables as there was so much dust. Also, we could not open the only window in one of the bedroom which was unpleasant, especially that you had this wonderful lake wind that could have come in the bedroom. The pool heather was broken for 2 days, so the pool water was very cold (also dirty), even thought it was supposed to be a “heated pool”, and the hot tub area was always dirty and slippery. They had a scheduled fishing family time in the morning, but only had 2 fishing rods available for the entire resort; all other rods were broken apparently. One day we were charged $6 for two coffees in the morning, and another day $0, all depends on who is at the front desk in the morning (?). Kids art/painting activities did not mention on the schedule that you had to pay extra, which usually at any other resorts they do put a $ sign when you have to pay, and when we got to do the art activity we had to pay $45 to paint two small paddles. For the service staff, we got some good service at the restaurants, but got some terrible service/staff with no smile at the reception or on the resort itself…

Positive: the location is great, and they have some good activities like kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and inflated water sports. (But expected at that price)

Stay for 3 days recently and had a wonderful time! Beautiful scenery, great food and lots to do including playing the fantastic golf course. Had a great room right on Lake Joe with breath taking views. Our room looked recently renovated and the room beside us was in the process of being painted. However, we didn't spend much time in the rooms as we were enjoying the lake, pools, bike riding, golf and hikes through the great outdoors. Looking to spend some time in Muskoka do not hesitate to stay at Rocky Crest!
